13:14June has turned to July and things have really taken off in the Championship. Last weekend saw two great matches in Cork and Armagh and this week we hope for more of the same but there’s more than just great games in store. There’s the added dimension of drama this week.
Let’s get the huge conspicuous elephant in the room out of the way first -Seanie Johnston. In case you’ve been in a coma for some time then you’ll know that the ex-Cavan man will finally complete his controversial move to Kildare today.
That is only due to the fact that Seanie lined out in a Kildare club championship game for Coill Dubh yesterday. Did I mention that it was a hurling match? That’s right, footballer Seanie Johnston fulfilled the requirement of playing a club championship game in Kildare by taking part in a hurling match. Of course, he didn’t do that much playing. His debut lasted all of 45 seconds. Cynical? Maybe. Dramatic? Definitely. Expect to see Seanie at some stage as Kildare look to topple Meath at Croke Park to reach the Leinster final.
After that game the Dubs have the tricky task of seeing off an unfancied Wexford side to set up a showdown with the winners of the Kildare and Meath match. The Dubs have everything to lose. Unless they register an emphatic victory they know there will be plenty of mud slung in their direction.
In the qualifiers Armagh won’t be relishing a tough trip to Dr Hyde Park where Roscommon will be their opponents. There is also an all-Ulster affair in the qualifiers where Fermanagh and Cavan will effectively be battling to avoid the unwanted title of ‘worst team in Ulster.’ Admittedly though, Antrim might have a legitimate claim to that crown.
There is enough potential for drama this afternoon that you can consider today’s action enough to fulfil your annual quota of culture. I’m Ciaran Daly so please sit back, relax and let the drama unfold and don’t be afraid to add to the drama yourself with some controversial comments. After all, all the world’s a stage…..and…..eh……that’s the height of my drama knowledge.

13:31Now, to get to yesterday’s games. Wow! Donegal showed the type of grit that has been typical of the team they toppled yesterday – Tyrone. Is anyone beginning to think that Donegal are a team of footballing robots, more machine than man? Yeah, me too, that’s why before yesterday’s game I put an each-way bet on them to win the All-Ireland. Go on, tell me I’m crazy.
One team I’m glad I didn’t back is Derry. Insipid in Ulster and now quashed in the qualifiers – Longford deservedly dismissed Derry to end the northerner’s campaign for another year. It was quite the result for Longford and they will be hoping to build on that momentum now in the next round of the qualifiers.
Wicklow too are through, though it took extra-time to see off a spirited Waterford side. Laois will also be in the draw at Carlow’s expense. Carlow not only lost the match but also lost their manager. Luke Dempsey quit in the wake of the defeat last night. In the other football qualifiers there were victories for Tipperary over Offaly, Antrim over London and Westmeath over Louth.
In the hurling qualifiers Wexford beat Carlow with 10 points to spare to progress to the next round. There was another game that proved to be both meaningless and meaningful. Limerick hurlers beat their Antrim counterparts on a score-line of 8-26 to 1-15. As a spectacle it was meaningless. Limerick will not have benefitted from the exercise at all and Antrim will have been further demoralised. The true meaning of the game was to underline the drastic need for a format change of the All-Ireland hurling championship. Will the GAA go back to the drawing board? Doubtful but surely we can all agree something must be done.

13:36And so to Seanie Johnston. It really is controversial issue. Aside from the semantics of whether he should be playing for Kildare at all, the manner in which he fulfilled the requirements to line out for Kildare today has left an even sourer taste in the mouths of most GAA fans across the country. What do you all think?
-
13:36Joe Brolly has claimed that Kildare people are ashamed of the debacle.
-
13:38“I’ll tell you something about Seanie Johnston – he’s brilliant against bad teams.” – Joe Brolly being the shrinking violet he usually is again on RTE.
-
13:40One man who backs Seanie Johnston is Kerry legend Darragh Ó’Sé. In his column for The Irish Times he said that Johnston is making serious sacrifices to play inter-county football and he shouldn’t receive flak for that. Check out Darragh’s thoughts here - http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0627/1224318804363.html
-
13:46I’d be inclined to agree with Darragh Ó’Sé that in terms of travelling down to Kildare a few times every week from Cavan Seanie Johnston is showing dedication but I don’t necessarily think that means he should be applauded.
Cavan may not have wanted him but why Kildare? Why not Leitrim, Longford or Westmeath? None of them play in Ulster and all are closer to home. Isn’t it a case of glory-hunting? Isn’t that against the ethos of the GAA? Isn’t it all incredibly cynical?
-
13:47Check out some shots of Seanie’s hurling debut (courtesy of the very funny lads at balls.ie) yesterday. http://www.balls.ie/2012/06/30/seanie-johnstons-hurling-career-remembered-in-photos/
-
13:53Check out Keith Duggan’s piece in the weekend edition of The Irish Times in light of Donegal’s impressive win over Tyrone. I find Donegal very intriguing even if most pundits find them vomit-inducing. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0630/1224319039668.html
-
13:55Another word on Johnston – the player himself is taking most of the abuse but isn’t Kildare’s role in this utterly deplorable too? How have they avoided most of the flak?
-
13:56No Seanie Johnston in the starting line-up for Kildare
-
13:58Louth’s Darren Clarke picked up Joe Brolly’s remarks on the Sunday game too. He’s just tweeted
@Clarkie2015 No holding back there from Brolly regarding Seanie Johnston -
14:01We’re off. (I always feel like I’m at a horse race when I write that)
-
14:01
-
14:01Kildare have scored after 20 seconds. Kavanagh with the point.
-
14:04Whatever about Kildare and Johnston, Meath have their own problems. Banty has been the most divisive figure in Meath football for some time. Check out Malachy Clerkin’s piece on Seamus McEnaney here. Players tend to perform for him eventually it seems. Today maybe? - http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0630/1224319038410.html
-
14:05Ollie Lyons may look like an altar boy but he plays like a demon!
-
14:06Good news for Royal fans - Meath have been haphazard in the opening minutes. Frustration ahoy!
-
14:06Meath have had three wides in six minutes. In a way that’s kind of impressive.
-
14:07
-
14:076 mins - Emmet Bolton scores Kildare’s second point. It’s Kildare 0-2 Meath 0-0
-
14:08Meath finally don’t hit a wide!
-
14:08
-
14:08
-
14:10Kavanagh hauled down. If some of those ‘tackles’ were carried out on the street it’d be enough to get you a prison sentence.
-
14:11Meath are panicking when they get into the final third.
-
14:12Meath are a selfish team. It’s all ‘Meath, Meath, Meath,’ with them.
-
14:12It’s very stop-start stuff at Croker so far.
-
14:13Meath aren’t scoring chances they can’t really afford to miss.
-
14:14Joe Sheridan has been Meath's leading light. We're level.
-
14:14
-
14:14
-
14:15
-
14:15Joe Sheridan was in Boston but maybe he had 'More than a feeling' Meath would do well this Summer and came home. Yes, I did just work the band Boston's major hit into that sentence and yes, I may be a genius.
-
14:15Meath are definitely improving.
-
14:16Kavanagh has been man-handled a couple of times. Yellow card for Ciaran Lenihan so
-
14:17
-
14:19
-
14:19Kildare a bit more patient there and finished by Johnny Doyle. We’re level.
-
14:19Eoin Harrington on for Ciaran Lenihan who had been booked only a few minutes ago.
-
14:20
-
14:22Meath are happy enough to let Kildare have possession around midfield but swarm over the forwards when it gets moved further forward.
-
14:22Meath are now two in front and deserve to be.
-
14:22
-
14:23Kildare’s build-up too deliberate?
-
14:24
Meath are being clever about winning frees. If you were more cynical you might say they’re going down easy to win frees.
-
14:25
-
14:25Kildare have had more possession in the last five minutes but Meath extend their lead to three points.
-
14:2624 minutes played at Croker. Meath 0-7 Kildare 0-4
-
14:26Meath are winning the breaks at midfield.
-
14:27Tobin lined out at half-back for Meath. I’m sure someone in the Kildare team would like to tell him. He’s playing like a forward.
-
14:29A great tweet courtesy of @murfohomo
Seanie Johnston 5000/1 for hurler of the year. Better odds than getting a few quid out of Ulster Bank at the minute.
-
14:30
-
14:3029 mins - Kildare needed that score. Kildare 0-7 Meath 0-5
-
14:31RTE commentators commending the players for not using the first pass. These pundits have a serious axe to grind with hand-passing. If it works, it’s worth doing. Why can’t they see that?
-
14:33
Johnny Doyle hits a wide. It’s not too often you get to write that.
-
14:34
-
14:34Meath’s Damien Carroll picks up a yellow for a clumsy challenge.
Both sides are guilty of giving away frees in silly positions.
-
14:35
-
14:35Meath are looking less assured now. Kildare look strong. I predict that Kildare will be leading by half-time.
-
14:35
-
14:35Cavan and Fermanagh – if there’s an attendance of over 14 people I’ll be surprised.
-
14:36
We’re level after 35 minutes at Croke Park. Seven points apiece for Kildare and Meath.
-
14:36
-
14:37I predicted Kildare would be leading at half-time. Joe Sheridan wants to make me look foolish. Thanks Joe.
-
14:38
-
14:38
-
14:38The referee blew up as Cian Ward hit a shot. It didn’t go over thankfully for the ref.
-
14:39Half-time – Meath 0-8 Kildare 0-7
-
14:40
-
14:40
-
14:40Referee nearly made a huge error at the end of the half. Luckily for him the shot fell short. Has the standard of refereeing been particularly bad this year?
-
14:41
-
14:44Jamie Clarke has netted for Armagh. The only Crossmaglen player on the Armagh team.
-
14:44
-
14:448 mins - Armagh 1-1 Roscommon 0-2
-
14:44
-
14:45Crossmaglen, All-Ireland club kingpins. Only one Cross player in the Armagh team. Surely everyone can see a very obvious way to improve Armagh?
-
14:45
-
14:46
-
14:46Brolly says Kildare lack cohesion. He can be a bit of a sensationalist but he knows his onions too does Joe.
-
14:48Who’s going to win at Croke Park? Meath have been excellent but there’s just a part of me thinking they can’t keep it up for the duration of the second half. Can they?
-
14:48
-
14:48Jamie Clarke is running riot in Dr Hyde Park.
-
14:49
-
14:51
-
14:52Cavan lead Fermanagh. The country as a whole waits with baited breath to see how that one turns out.
-
14:53Donie Shine is doing his best to keep Roscommon in touch. Shine v Clarke seems to be the story of the game in Roscommon.
-
14:53
-
14:54Referee Michael Collins coming in for criticism from Ciarán Whelan and Joe Brolly for blowing up the half at a strange time. The criticism is merited.
-
14:55Seanie Johnston is not listed among the substitutes for Kildare.
-
14:56
-
14:57
-
14:58
-
14:59O’Connor puts the finishing touches on a patient Kildare move
-
14:59The build-up again was very deliberate but if it’s effective, (as it was) then can it be questioned?
-
15:00
-
15:00Maybe I’m paranoid but the style Kildare play isn’t too dissimilar to that deployed by Donegal and Tyrone and yet Kildare don’t seem to attract the criticism that the Ulster teams do? Am I wrong?
-
15:01
-
15:01Are Kildare going to overrun Meath in this second half? Kildare lead 0-9 to 0-8
-
15:01Stephen Bray on for Cian Ward
-
15:02
-
15:02Joe Sheridan drags a shot wide. He could have had a goal. He didn’t even get a point.
-
15:02I can see Joe Sheridan becoming increasingly isolated in the second half.
-
15:04Turns out there are 5,260 fans at the Cavan v Fermanagh game. Seems like a decent enough game too. Fermanagh 0-7 Cavan 0-5
-
15:05Armagh 1-6 Roscommon 0-5
-
15:06
-
15:07
-
15:08
The margin is one but you can sense that Kildare have the momentum
-
15:08
-
15:08Brian Meade off Peadar Byrne on for Meath.
-
15:08
-
15:09
-
15:10
-
15:10Pragmatically speaking Kildare should put Johnston on. Why play him in a club hurling game if he wasn’t going to play a part today? Plus, it means he can make his debut and everyone can move on.
-
15:10Did I write Meath off too soon?
-
15:10Johnny Doyle is off. Padraig Fogarty is on.
-
15:12
-
15:12
-
15:14Daryl Flynn sent off for a second bookable offence. Avoidable.
-
15:14
-
15:14His first booking wasn’t really a yellow. Referee under the spotlight again you’d have to think.
-
15:15In terms of Kildare and Meath I have no affiliation to either team. None whatsoever. Why then do I think I want Meath to win. They lead 0-12 to 0-11. There are about 16 minutes to go.
-
15:15GOAL! Mikey Conway scores for Kildare
-
15:16
-
15:16
-
15:16Long ball in came off the upright. O’Connor recycled it and fed Conway who just about managed to get it under the Meath goalkeeper. Kildare 1-11 Meath 0-12
-
15:17
-
15:17Joe Sheridan missed a goal opportunity. That’s a couple he’s missed. Could prove vital but Meath are back to within a point of Kildare.
-
15:17Reilly with a monster of a point. We're level again at Croke Park
-
15:18
-
15:20GOAL for Meath!
-
15:20Peadar Byrne with a great finish. Meath 1-14 to 1-11. 10 minutes to go.
-
15:20
-
15:21Kildare might feel aggrieved. Mick Collins, the ref, threw the ball up rather than give the free out he should have given Kildare.
-
15:22This game is superb. Will the Banty doubters be silenced?
-
15:23Dermot Earley is on for Kildare.
-
15:24Joe Sheridan has been a decent target man but other aspects of his game have let him down.
-
15:24
Earley’s shot was wild. That description is generous.
-
15:25Earley’s wide was bad. Ollie Lyons’ miss was worse. Bad.
-
15:27Seanie Johnston, if ever you wanted to endear yourself to Kildare fans, now is the time.
-
15:27He's not going to get the opportunity it seems
-
15:27Conor Gillespie has won the midfield battle on his own for Meath
-
15:28
-
15:28Stephen Bray scores would could be an insurance point for Meath. 1-15 to 1-11.
-
15:29Queeney on for Forde for Meath
-
15:29
-
15:29Queeney’s first touch is a point.
-
15:30In many ways Queeney is the ultimate Royal
-
15:30
-
15:30Queeney has scored a second point
-
15:30
-
15:30
69 mins -Meath 1-17 Kildare 1-11
-
15:31Meath deserve this.
-
15:32Seanie Johnston didn’t make it on to the pitch and people will say he disrupted Kildare before this. They should’ve played him if only to get it over with.
-
15:33It's over!
-
15:33
-
15:33
Full-time : Meath 1-17 Kildare 1-11
-
15:33drumgath did kildare believe all the pre match hype? All the stats? You can never write meath off. That's the history they should have been reading
-
15:34Indeed Drumgath, indeed.
-
15:35Let’s not take anything away from Meath. They deserved to win that match. Six points to spare in the end. Convincing.
-
15:35
-
15:37"Players perform for Séamus McEnaney eventually – no matter how much drama he trails in his wake." So said Malachy Clerkin in this weekend's Irish Times. Indeed.
-
15:37
-
15:37Fermanagh are pulling away from Cavan - a damning indictment of the state of Cavan football.
-
15:38Armagh lead Roscommon by a single point. That should go down to the wire.
-
15:38
-
15:40Will Kildare blame the referee? The sending-off was perhaps harsh and the decision not to give Kildare a free out which indirectly led to the Meath goal proved to be vital.
-
15:40
-
15:41
-
15:42
-
15:42Seriously though, now we’re going to have to go through the whole ‘Will Seanie Johnston make his debut?’ debacle again on another day. Why go through the rigmarole that they did last night if they had no intention of playing him today? Dare we question Kieran McGeeney’s judgment?
-
15:43Roscommon lead now. Are we nearing the end for Paddy O’Rourke?
-
15:43
-
15:44You can all get officially excited. Down v Derry in the Ulster hurling championship is underway. I wonder why it’s not being televised?
-
15:4520 minutes to go and Fermanagh are looking comfortable. They lead Cavan by six points.
-
15:45
-
15:46Hold on – Cavan have scored a goal.
-
15:46
-
15:48Holy Cavan comeback Batman!
-
15:49
-
15:51Cavan, I never doubted that you.
-
15:54
-
15:55In the Ulster hurling championship semi-final Derry lead Down by six points after 20 minutes
-
15:55
-
15:56Armagh 1-8 Roscommon 1-10. That’s Armagh’s first point of the second half
-
15:57
-
15:57Cavan have a third goal
-
15:58It's Cavan 3-10 Fermanagh 0-14
-
15:58
-
15:58So what about the Dubs? They’re going to win. Is it a mauling or will they stumble to victory?
-
16:00The rendition of the National Anthem at Croke Park is slick and therefore lacks its usual character
-
16:01Dublin's team is strong, very strong.
-
16:01
-
16:01
-
16:02Dublin lead after less than a minute. McManamon with the score
-
16:03Diarmuid Connolly’s started like he means business. Daunting prospect for Wexford.
-
16:03
-
16:04
-
16:05
-
16:05
Redmond Barry with a score – an early contender for ‘Name of the Season.’
-
16:06
-
16:06Armagh are going out. A real lack of second half scores. I don’t want to push this agenda but it’s impossible to see Paddy O’Rourke survive this
-
16:07Alan Brogan’s shot is saved by the Wexford goalkeeper. Bernard Brogan not to happy with his brother there.
-
16:07Poor wide from Alan Brogan.
-
16:08
-
16:08FT – Roscommon 1-11 Armagh 1-9
-
16:09
-
16:09Great result for Roscommon!
-
16:10FT: Fermanagh 0-15 Cavan 3-13.
-
16:10GOAL! Redmond Barry!
-
16:10
-
16:119 mins - Wexford lead. Redmond Barry gathered a long ball and slipped the ball under Cluxton. It’s Wexford 1-1 Dublin 0-2
-
16:12HT- Ulster hurling – Derry 0-13 Down 0-7
-
16:13Great point from Brogan senior
-
16:13
-
16:15
-
16:15Ben Brosnan – questionable haircut but an assured point
-
16:16Dublin haven’t got going at all yet. Wexford are doing well. How long can it continue?
-
16:17Dublin have been wasteful in front of goal. Bernard Brogan fires wide this time
-
16:18Goal-kick directly out over the line for a side-line ball. That’s poor.
-
16:19David Murphy was just described by TV3 as the spiritual leader of the Wexford defence. David ‘Dalai’ Murphy.
-
16:20Wexford now lead 1-3 to 0-3. Dublin guilty of missing easy chances
-
16:21Oisín McConville has said this of Armagh manager Paddy O’Rourke’s future:
“I don’t think he has a future, no disrespect to the man.”
Tell us what you really think Oisín. -
16:21GOAL for Dublin! Diarmuid Connolly with the score
-
16:22
-
16:22Great inside pass to Connolly who shook off his man and hit the opposite corner of the net. Neat finish. Dublin 1-3 Wexford 1-4
-
16:23Ben Brosnan is really on fire. Three points from play. Great score.
-
16:23
-
16:24Dublin’s wide count is getting higher. It might be more forgivable if they were hard chances to convert. They aren’t.
-
16:25
-
16:25Kevin McManamon with a point. Dublin 1-4 Wexford 1-5
-
16:26Masterson with a superb save. Brogan wriggled free and you would have put your house on Bernard Brogan finishing but the Wexford goalie did well.
-
16:26Dublin were able to get a point through Cullen though
-
16:29Ben Brosnan set to star in Dye Another Day!
-
16:30Bernard Brogan hasn’t scored yet for the Dubs – he’s obviously finished!
-
16:31Cian O’Sullivan on for Ger Brennan
-
16:32Wexford have been impressive enough but I can see Dublin totally overrunning them in the second half. I did say that Kildare would do that to Meath in the earlier game mind.
-
16:33Ben Brosnan’s effort goes wide after hitting the post. Good attempt.
-
16:33
-
16:34The Brogan brothers have been unusually inaccurate.
-
16:35Bernard Brogan’s shot falls well short. So who has the kryptonite in Croke Park?
-
16:36
-
16:36Wexford score the game’s first free. Wexford lead.
-
16:37Banville with a superb score. Wexford lead by two
-
16:38This Wexford display has been courageous – typical Yellow bellies….no wait….I mean….
-
16:39Ben Brosnan with another point
-
16:39
-
16:39HT - Wexford 1-8 Dublin 1-5
-
16:39
-
16:44Wexford are better than some people (I’m definitely not referring to myself there) gave them credit for before this game. Redmond Barry, Ciaran Lyng and in particular Ben Brosnan are great footballers.
-
16:45Banville's no slouch either
-
16:48The highlights of the first half definitely show that Dublin’s defence doesn’t look comfortable dealing with long direct balls.
-
16:52Dublin will definitely come back and win this game. You can (Ulster) bank on that which means you may not get what you need from this.
-
16:53officialgaa via Twitter The attendance today at the double header in Croke Park is 47,961. #nothingbeatsbeingthere #gaa2012
-
16:55The TV3 pundits are saying Dublin’s forwards have been lax. Hard to argue with them.
-
16:5547,961 at Croke Park this afternoon. Attendance-watch!
-
16:57Michael Dara Macauley replaces Eamon Fennell
-
16:57Wexford just 35 minutes from beating Dublin the Leinster championship since 1956 apparently
-
16:58Lacklustre start to the second half
-
17:01Banville wide. Just.
-

17:02Diarmuid Connolly clearly struck out there off the ball. Red card. Silly silly boy. Had to go.
-
17:03
When all else fails turn to Cluxton.
-
17:03DublinerOnTour Following live updates from Yangon, Myanmar but there must be something funky in the air. It sounds like Cavan (seriously??) won and Dublin are loosing to Wexford? Say it ain't so :(
-
17:04
-
17:05Glad you’re joining us all the way from Yangon but your eyes do not deceive you – Cavan did in fact win and as it stands Dublin are being beaten by Wexford but the fightback is on. Dublin trail by a solitary point now.
-
17:05Wexford need a score or at least some possession if they are to weather this Blue storm.
-
17:06Two wides in a row from Wexford. Dublin will punish that.
-
17:06Wexford now giving away silly frees. Dublin should level it up now.
-
17:07Bernard Brogan gets his first point of the day. That’s ominous.
-
17:08
-
17:09Wexford score through Flynn. Good sustained pressure from Wexford there
-
17:09
-
17:0947 mins - Wexford 1-9 Dublin 1-8
-
17:10Wexford seem to be enjoying more possession. They must know that they have to exploit the extra man.
-
17:11Roche must feel like the daddy after converting that free. Papa Roche if you will. Wexford lead by two.
-
17:11
-
17:12I don’t want to jinx him but Masterson in the Wexford goal has been excellent today.

17:13Paddy Byrne on for Ciaran Lyng
-
17:13GOAL for Dublin!
-
17:14
-
17:14Kevin McManamon gifted a chance after Bernard Brogan found space and fed McManamon. Dublin 2-8 Wexford 1-10
-
17:14auns Is this on twitter?
-
17:15It's run on the Irish Times website only. We infiltrate some Twitter feeds into the coverage.
-
17:16That looked like a soft free awarded to Dublin. McManamon didn’t even stop playing himself and he was meant to be the one who had been fouled. Bernard Brogan misses a fairly easy free by his own high standards.
-
17:17McManamon is coming into his own here with a fine point. Dublin 2-9 Wexford 1-10
-
17:17
-
17:19Wexford shot blocked by a Dublin foot but according to TV3 it's not a foot block?
-
17:19Brosnan, kicking into the Hill, drags his shot wide. Is that the belief sapping away from Wexford?
-
17:21Brosnan misses another. The writing’s on the wall here, isn’t it?
-
17:21
-
17:21Colm Morris off John Leacy on for Wexford
-
17:22FT – Ulster hurling championship – Derry 0-24 Down 0-13
-
17:22I’m going to say it. I think this is the worst I’ve ever seen Bernard Brogan play.
-
17:23Redmond Barry played a ball right in on top of Cluxton. Any other goalkeeper would’ve been under pressure. Cluxton, with ice in his veins, was not in any way bothered.
-
17:24Bernard Brogan has been taken off. It’s been that bad for him. Eoghan O’Gara is on.
-
17:2562 mins – Dublin 2-9 Wexford 1-10
-
17:25O’Gara wins a free with his first touch.
-
17:26Cluxton isn’t infallible. His free comes off the post.
-
17:27Flynn with another wide. Far too many in the second half. Wexford could have been out of sight.
-
17:29Kevin Noalan puts the Dubs three points up with three minutes left to play

17:30Brilliant score from Dublin. Superb counter-attacking movement
-
17:31Kilkenny on for Dublin. I hope that’s confused some of you.
-
17:31Wexford haven’t scored for the best part of 20 minutes.

17:33Kevin McManamon awarded Man of the Match by TV3. What do you reckon?
-
17:33

17:34There’s a rise in cynical challenges to kill the game. Ross O’Carroll the culprit that time. Yellow card.

17:35Dublin v Meath in the Leinster final – there will be blood!
-
17:37In the end, it was a poor game. Dublin weren't great but progressed whereas Wexford will feel they could’ve won it had they been able to finish in the second half as they had done in the first. Meath may fancy their chances in the final. Is this Banty’s road to redemption with the Royal county?
-
17:37DublinerOnTour *phew* I can go to sleep knowing that all is 'somewhat' right in the world. Thankfully we're not facing Kerry any time soon
-
17:40Sleep easy DublineronTour. The Dubs have done it and they will only improve on that performance. If you were watching Kerry this year, you might not fear them as much as you might have in recent years. The All-Ireland could be won by up to five teams I reckon. Dublin remain one of those teams. Hope life in Myanmar is treating you well.

18:02At the start of the day drama was promised and drama was duly delivered. It may not have been from the source we suspected but Meath provided enough excitement to keep everyone entertained.
Seanie Johnston ended up not making his Kildare debut but had he been introduced the headlines would still have gone to Meath who surprised the much-fancied Kildare team by beating them with six points to spare.
Dublin progressed but Wexford will look back on their Leinster semi-final with regret. They had the potential to cause so much drama but as it was they were unable to score in the last 20 minutes and Dublin held on. Everything was set up for Jason Ryan’s side. Diarmuid Connolly’s petulance reduced Dublin to 14 men but the Wexford heroes of the first half couldn’t produce the performance they needed in the second half.
The drama may be over Paddy O’Rourke as Armagh slumped to defeat against Roscommon. The Rossies deservedly saw off an Armagh team who could only muster two points in the second half.
In the all-Ulster qualifier late dramatics saw Cavan storm from five points behind to register a seven-point victory against Fermanagh.
In Ulster hurling, there may not have been drama but you can assume it was more of a tragedy as Down fell to Derry at Casement Park.
Today’s action completes a dramatic week in GAA circles. Come back for more at the same time and same place next Sunday. In terms of today’s action though you can consider this the fat lady singing. Or is that opera not drama?.....the theme was being loosely worked in anyway. See you next week.
