  • Good afternoon!

With Leinster through to the Champions Cup semi-finals attentions now turn to Thomond Park, as Munster take on Toulouse.

It has been a while since these two sides could call themselves the kings of Europe, but today's meeting is a clash of two of the continent's undisputed heavyweights.

There is a romance to this fixture which is rarely matched. Munster against the four-time champions in the European Cup knock-outs - it just sounds right.

The breaking news from Limerick is that Conor Murray isn't fit to start despite being named in the starting line-up yesterday - Duncan Williams takes the number nine jersey.

We'll be bringing you all the action, so get settled and let's hope Munster can party like it's 2008.

    Come on!!!

  • MUNSTER: Simon Zebo; Darren Sweetnam, Jaco Taute, Rory Scannell, Keith Earls; Tyler Bleyendaal, Duncan Williams; Dave Kilcoyne, Niall Scannell, John Ryan, Donnacha Ryan, Billy Holland, Peter O’Mahony (capt), Tommy O’Donnell, CJ Stander. Replacements: Rhys Marshall, James Cronin, Stephen Archer, Dave O’Callaghan, Jack O’Donoghue, Angus Lloyd, Francis Saili, Andrew Conway.

TOULOUSE: Maxime Médard; Yoann Huget, Florian Fritz, Gael Fickou, Paul Perez; Jean-Marc Doussain, Sébastien Bézy; Cyril Baille, Leonardo Ghiraldini, Census Johnston, Richie Gray, Yoann Maestri, Thierry Dusautoir (capt), Yacouba Camara, Francois Cros. Replacements: Julien Marchand, Gurthro Steenkamp, Dorian Aldegheri, Talalelei Gray, Piula Faasalele, Joe Tekori, Luke McAlister, Arthur Bonneval..

  • Another bit of team news and a blow for Toulouse - Richi Gray has pulled out in the warm-up.
  • It has been two very contrasting seasons for Munster and Toulouse. Rassie Erasmus's side have been inspired since the death of Anthony Foley last year and are pushing for silverware both domestically and on the continent.

Toulouse meanwhile are in danger of missing out on Champions Cup qualification for next season - they currently lie 10th in the Top 14 table. But the visitors have a side stacked with internationals and have a blend of electric runners and huge lumps up front. You can't write them off.

  • Joe Tekori partners Yoann Maestri in the secondrow in the absence of Gray.

Thomond is packed and bubbling away nicely.

  • Here come the teams. Sunshine and fireworks.
  • Bleyendaal to kick off.

    We're underway!

  • 1 min: The kick is straight to the giant Tekori and he rumbles before being put on his backside by O'Donnell and Ryan. A Bezy boxkick is well taken by Earls and Munster have possession. Williams looks to boxkick himself and he is checked late by number eight Cros.
  • 2 min: After complaints from Munster referee JP Doyle is checking that late tackle with the TMO. Cros took Williams out late with the elbow, and he gets shown a yellow card!
  • 2 min: Bleyendaal sticks the penalty into touch deep inside the Toulouse 22 - Munster get good lineout ball and set the maul with a penalty coming after Dusautoir gets caught on the wrong side.
  • 3 min: Munster move it inside and Bleyendaal nearly scampers through. The move breaks down and play is brought back for the penalty - Bleyendaal goes into the corner again.
  • TRY MUNSTER!!!
  • O'Donnell takes the lineout and Munster maul again before looking to use it right. They opt to pick and drive and John Ryan wriggles his way over to the left of the posts. They check with the TMO to see if it's held up - the ball was down.

    Bleyendaal converts. Whirlwind start.

    5 MIN: MUNSTER 7 TOULOUSE 0

  • 6 min: O'Mahony takes a lineout on halfway and Munster swing it left. It's kicked but Huget and Medard do well to secure the ball for the visitors under pressure. Doussain clears but only as far as Zebo who runs it back and finds Sweetnam who kicks ahead and chases well. This is breathless.
  • 8 min: Munster really smelling blood here, they set a maul infield and grind their way up towards the 22 - Toulouse forced into conceding a penalty.

Bleyendaal will go for the posts this time - it's just outside the 22 and to the right. Nails it.

    10 MIN: MUNSTER 10 TOULOUSE 0

  • 11 min: First mistake from Munster - Bleyendaal looks to clear from inside the 22 and the ball goes into touch behind him. Toulouse win the lineout and maul, Munster doing well to slow the drive down. Visitor's ball inside the home 22.
  • 12 min: Toulouse up to 12 phases - they're retaining the ball well but Munster's linespeed is good.
  • 13 min: A mammoth passage of play from Toulouse - up to 20 phases - but it comes to nothing as Bezy spills a poor offload. A lot of effort for no reward there.
  • 14 min: Munster awarded a free kick from the scrum - easy chance for Rory Scannell to clear up towards halfway.
  • 15 min: A brilliant steal from O'Mahony at the lineout but then Rory Scannell gets isolated in possession on halfway and Toulouse are awarded a penalty.

Fritz has a go from distance but it's short and wide.

    16 MIN: MUNSTER 10 TOULOUSE 0

  • 18 min: First glimpse of Fickou dancing in off the right wing. Toulouse moving it with more purpose and Huget snipes through a gap before he's hauled down.

Munster are penalised for not releasing the man though and Doussain knocks over an easy penalty from in front of the posts.

    20 MIN: MUNSTER 10 TOULOUSE 3

  • 21 min: First poor Munster lineout - Niall Scannell pinged for a crooked throw. Toulouse scrum on the 10-metre.
  • 22 min: The scrum has to be reset a few times - Toulouse just about getting it out at the third time of asking. Doussain kicks to Zebo who runs it back before Munster kick - Toulouse possession inside their own 10.
  • 24 min: Fickou chips over the Munster line but Williams covers well before finding a cute touch on the Toulouse 22.
  • 25 min: Another good Munster lineout and they work it left, Taute making a big carry up to the 22. Munster have a penalty advantage after a high tackle on Kilcoyne from Tekori.

Bleyendaal slots to restore Munster's 10-point cushion.

    27 MIN: MUNSTER 13 TOULOUSE 3

  • 28 min: O'Donnell pinged for coming in off his feet and Doussain finds a good touch on the Munster 22.
  • 29 min: Toulouse get good lineout ball and Doussain puts a brilliant chip over the top which Fickou can't touch down before it runs dead. Zebo absolutely clattered the post as he covered across there but he's okay. Toulouse had an advantage coming, and they stick the penalty into the corner.
  • 31 min: Big shunt from Toulouse but Munster keep them at bay at the cost of another penalty, Taute done for hands on the deck.

This time Doussain will go for goal, and he slots it.

    32 MIN: MUNSTER 13 TOULOUSE 6

  • 32 min: Medard looks to clear from the restart and he skews his clearance under pressure. Munster lineout just inside the 22.
  • 33 min: O'Mahony claims the lineout again. Munster maul and then look wide - but Taute takes a pass ahead of Rory Scannell and Toulouse escape with a scrum.
  • 34 min: Zebo runs back a kick but slips as he looks to step off his right. He recovers well though and Munster have possession on the Toulouse 10.
  • TRY MUNSTER!!!!
  • DISALLOWED TRY!!!
  • A scrappy but excellent passage of play sees Bleyendaal cross. Donnacha Ryan plays a basketball pass out to Toute on the left and he passes inside to Rory Scannell. He can't get the offload away and the ball goes forward, with Bleyendaal picking up the pieces and touching down. There's suspicion of a knock-on but the ball was played by a white shirt. However on closer inspection there was the slightest knock-on from O'Donnell. Close.

    36 MIN: MUNSTER 13 TOULOUSE 6

  • 37 min: Excellent pressure from Williams charging down the Toulouse kick but the ball goes dead and the visitors escape with a 22.
  • 39 min: Munster have a lineout to defend on their 22 - and again O'Mahony spoils it. They have men left, but Rory Scannell looks to kick. It's half charged down and falls for a red shirt - but they are penalised for offside.

Doussain with a chance to close the gap - and his kick just creeps inside the righthand post.

    40 MIN: MUNSTER 13 TOULOUSE 9

  • HT: MUNSTER 13 TOULOUSE 9
  • The teams are back out in Limerick. Munster were much better then their four-point lead in that first half.
  • We're back underway!
  • 41 min: Lovely from Zebo, fielding the restart and dancing up towards halfway. The ball slows down but Williams gets Munster back on the front foot as he snipes from the fringes. Penalty Munster - bright start.

Bleyendaal is going to have a go from the halfway with the breeze at his back. Just creeps over - monster kick.

    42 MIN: MUNSTER 16 TOULOUSE 9

  • 43 min: Earls has an age to field a boxkick on the left and makes good ground up to the Toulouse 10. It's very scrappy at the breakdown, and then again at the next phase. Rory Scannell cleans things up with a good grubber to touch on the left.
  • 45 min: Bleyendaal puts a good kick in behind Perez who gets a kind bounce and feeds Medard to clear - but Munster still have the territory.
  • 46 min: Munster maul inside and win another penalty after Toulouse don't roll away. This is a chance for Bleyendaal but he sticks it into the corner - Munster going for the jugular.
  • TRY MUNSTER!!!!!
  • Munster dupe Toulouse into thinking the maul is coming and a pod spliter off and trundle towards the line. Bleyendaal tries to go himself and is held up just short, but then CJ Stander is on hand to pick and touch down.

    Bleyendaal misses the conversion.

    49 MIN: MUNSTER 21 TOULOUSE 9

  • 50 min: Medard spills a simple pass from Fritz as Toulouse look to run it from deep. Munster scrum inside the opposition 10.

O'Mahony is off - he hurt himself clearing out for that try.

  • 51 min: Munster retaining the ball well on the edge of the 22 - keeping it short and tight and making good yards with every carry. The penalty is coming for a high tackle on Stander, but they smell blood.
  • 52 min: Earls has acres on the left but gets held up and can't find Zebo outside him.

This time Bleyendaal will go for goal - and he knocks over an easy three points.

    53 MIN: MUNSTER 24 TOULOUSE 9

  • TRY TOULOUSE!!!
  • There's the first glimpse of the Toulouse of old. Secondrow Maestri breaks up the left and finds Perez outside him, and he has the gas to burn clear and cross. It looked like Maestri's pass was forward and Doyle checks with the TMO - but the referee isn't happy with any of the angles and gives the benefit of the doubt to the try scorer. Toulouse gifted a route back in.

Doussain converts from the touchline, boos ring round Thomond Park.

    55 MIN: MUNSTER 24 TOULOUSE 16

  • 58 min: Munster have had ownership of the ball since the Toulouse score, probing around the 10-metre, but the visitors are patient in defence and force a penalty.
  • 60 MIN: MUNSTER 24 TOULOUSE 16
  • 62 min: Munster scrum on their 10 - it has to be reset a few times before Toulouse are awarded what could be a crucial penalty. Dussain is told to go for touch instead of the three points and only reaches the 22. Strange decision.

  • 64 min: Toulouse in possession on the Munster 22, keeping the ball alive with runners off both shoulders. Munster are digging in, though, and preventing quick ball.
  • 65 min: Huge defensive effort and Munster force a turnover on the 22.
  • CJ Stander has been replaced by Jack O'Donoghue.
  • 67 min: Another charge down from Williams near halfway but he gets pinged for offside - that was close.
  • 68 min: Toulouse in possession again, probing around the 10, but Doussain knocks on and Munster have a scrum. Another unforced error.
  • 70 MIN: MUNSTER 24 TOULOUSE 16
  • 71 min: Munster get clean scrum ball and it's moved to Rory Scannnell who kicks long. Medard spills the kick but recovers and finds an excellent touch, shifting the play back to halfway.
  • 72 min: Munster penalty from the lineout and Bleyendaal nudges it up the line into touch. It's a loose set piece, and Toulouse are gifted the ball back - but then they return the favour as Bonneval is pinged for getting back to his feet after the tackle, perhaps harshly.

    Bleyendaal slots the penealty.

    74 MIN: MUNSTER 27 TOULOUSE 16

  • TRY MUNSTER!!!!!!!!!!!
  • And that's all she wrote. Toulouse desperately chasing the game and Taute nails Doussain as he tries to deal with a hospital pass, with Sweetnam hacking forward and scooping up the boucing ball before crossing.

    Bleyendaal converts.

    77 MIN: MUNSTER 34 TOULOUSE 16

  • 78 min: John Ryan named man of the match - Ireland are certainly well stocked at tighthead. Munster have a central scrum inside the Toulouse 22.
  • TRY MUNSTER!!!!!!
  • Munster finishing in style. Rory Scannell breaks and red shirts pile in under the posts. They move it left and Bleyendaal plays a lovely flat ball to Conway and he crosses in the corner.

    Bleyendaal converts.

    80 MIN: MUNSTER 41 TOULOUSE 16
