What are the points for Sociology and Geography in Trinity ( TR 332) in 2014 as it is not on any website today.

All that is available at the moment are the points intervals for the individual subjects in TR001.   The grid showing the cut off points for each of the combinations is not available yet but will be soon.   Sociology is 450* - 570* and Geography is 435 - 570*.

I was offered a place on DN 600 - Law, but it did not specify that I was offered Law with Economics, which was the option I had chosen, is Law with Economics what I received?

Assuming that you selected LES Law with Economics on your CAO you are guaranteed a place on this degree. Well done.

  • 08:58

What are my chances of getting an offer in the 2nd or 3rd round if I didn't get in due to random selection?

This very much depends how many people are in the random pool of applicants on the cut off points waiting to get an offer and the number of places that may be offered in the next round due mainly to round one applicants who were offered a place and are not accepting the it.   There is no way of finding out this information so unfortunately it is a waiting game again until round two to see what happens.

  • 08:58

Is it possible to take an exam that was missed due to illness next year to increase CAO points?

I am afraid not. You can repeat individual subject to satisfy minimum entry requirements only. Points are calculated from your best six subjects on the one sitting only.

  • 08:59

What are the entry points for psychology at TCD, NUI Maynooth and DCU?

    TCD - 560

    NUIM-505

    DCU - 510

When is information from the universities expected? (Trinity in particular)

I presume you are talking about the colleges contacting you after you have accepted your place.   This varies between universities but is generally very soon after you have accepted the place.   If you go to the admissions section of the TCD website under Registration you will find information there about what to expect when contacted.

  • 09:16

If one got 590 in the Leaving, and a HPAT score of 159, should that add to 725, putting the candidate in position for a place in UCC or NUIG medicine?
The CAO says I got 717

CAO  is correct. For all scores above 550 each five point band is equal to one point. So your 590 LC point translates to 558 pts plus your 159 hpat=717.

Take a look HPAT Ireland and click on http://www.hpat-ireland.acer.edu.au. Click on University admissions up the top. Open the file and the scoring grid will be there for you to view.

Get back in touch if needs be. Good luck.

I got an offer for my first choice but I really want my 3rd, is there any way?

You will never be offered a course below what you have been offered. The only thing that I could suggest is that maybe if they are both in the same college that you could contact admissions and enquire about internal transfers, or enquire about transferring after year 1. I don't have enough information from your query. You are better off contacting the admissions as each college have different policies.

    The best of luck.

My son has missed his preferred course by 5 points. If he accepts the course he has been offered does that mean he won't receive a second round offer if the points for the course he wanted falls?

No.   Whether he accepts the course he has been offered or not he will still remain in the running for a higher preference course.   If he becomes entitled to a higher preference place in the next rounds he will be offered it and it is up to him whether to accept or not.   The danger of not accepting a course in round one is that there is no guarantee of another offer in successive rounds.

  • 09:28

Got 480 points - want to do Commerce in UCD - this morning shows 490 round 1 - in the Independent this morning it says   last year was 475 round 1 and 2   - yet the CAO site says round one - 490 - round two 475. Am hoping for a drop for round 2?

I think you are misreading the CAO website.   It states the round one points for commerce in 2013 were 475 and the median points were 490.   The points last year remained at 475.   I'm afraid it is going to be a waiting game to round two to see if the points drop, but 10 points of a drop might be difficult to expect.

  • 09:34

If  I didn't get any letter from the CAO this morning, does it mean that I got no course offers in any of my choices?

Not necessarily so.   Sometimes for any number of reasons the offers do not arrive in the post this morning and even if you had received no offer you would still get correspondence from the CAO.   My advice is to go online and check your CAO account to see what is there.

I am an international student applying for Social Care in Waterford and I didn't get any offers, even though after calculating my results I should have more than enough points. Is it possible my results were somehow miscalculated?

It is unlikely but it can happen.   I would send an email to the admissions office of Waterford IT and CAO to query this quoting your CAO application number.

  • 09:41

Having received an offer for Arts in UCD is it possible to change the subject choice you had originally applied for?

If you have applied for joint honours you  can change subject choice during orientation week. Places are not guaranteed due to availability.

If you have applied for a single honours degree in order to transfer you would need the points for the subject that you are transferring to.

I would advise you to ring the student help desk on 01-7161555 as I don't have enough of your details.

    The best of luck.

  • 09:42

If I got 590 in the LC, and 159 in the HPAT, should my combined score be 725? The CAO says I got 717.

I have answered this question below. CAO is correct.

Are 2nd round DARE offers common?

DARE 2nd round offers are not that common. DARE policies can vary. I suggest that you contact the DARE advisor of the particular college of interest to you.

What are the points for Radiography

DN 410 -550 POINTS. UCD- Radiography

  • 09:51

Hi - I got 540 in my LC and really wanted to do pharmacy. I have now decided I don't want my second choice. Do you think there is any chance of points going down in the second round or can I get into UCAS somehow? Thanks

I would be surprised if the points for Pharmacy dropped to 540 but there is no way of knowing for sure.   In terms of UCAS if you haven't got an offer at the moment then you are looking at a system called Clearing.   If you go to the UCAS website www.ucas.com you will see the courses that are being advertised in clearing and you can contact the colleges directly if you see a course that you would like to apply for.   I did see a few Pharmacy courses in the list.

  • 09:55

My daughter appears to have fallen victim to the issue highlighted in your lead article - she applied for politics and geography in TCD which was 445 last year, thought she was comfortable at 465,only to find that the points have jumped to 490!
Is there any possibility this number will change significantly in the second round or more places will be offered - it certainly appears to be a very dramatic switch?

There is always a possibilty. If or by how much it will fall will depend on the number of successful applicants who defer or reject their offer. It will also depend on where your daughter is in the queue. Candidates are placed in the queue in order of points.

I hope that it works out for you.

  • 09:57

I'm 15 short of what I wanted to do and I don't qualify for HEAR. I got an offer and I'm not really happy with it. I think I got a low grade in French and art - should I get them rechecked? If yes, how long would it take?

I would certainly advise viewing your scripts, you have nothing to lose by doing this and everything to gain.   I would look at all your scripts and see if there are any of them that are borderline going up to the next grade.   If so, then consider getting those papers rechecked.   The results of the rechecks are available in October.   My advise with this is to assume that you not going to get an upgrade and make your decisions based on this and if you get an upgrade in October then its a bonus.

  • 09:57

My daughter got her first preference of pharmacy in Cork but now wants to go to Trinity her 2nd choice is there any way of switching?

I am afraid not. The closing date for the change of mind was July 1st.

  • 09:59

Got 275 points in my Leaving Cert, however the course (Early Childhood Education) I wish to take requires 290 points. I failed to secure a place in Round one of the CAO Offers. Should I hold out and wait for Round Two or should I apply for a PLC?

Apply for the PLC as this won't affect your CAO offers either way. If the points fall and you get an offer you can accept it then. The only problem will be in getting refunded your deposit from the PLC college. Speak with the PLC about their refunding policy.

  • 10:00

I got 375 but qualified for HEAR I got no offers today. Have I missed chance for nursing in UCD and DCU? Even with HEAR reduced points?

It looks as if you have.   If you were entitled to a place in one of these colleges you would have been offered it today like all other CAO applicants.   Did you meet all the entry requirements?

  • 10:04
  • 10:04

Are you guaranteed an offer in round two if you don't accept your round one offer? I got the points I need for my first choice but didn't get maths grade I need. If I get my maths rechecked, and get it, does that mean I'll get an offer?

No there are no guarantees like this, you may get no further offers in round two and beyond so we advise accepting something in round one for this reason. Whatever results you get as a result of a recheck in October are backdated to today, so if you would have been entitled to your first choice today with your upgraded results then you must be offered it in October.

  • 10:06

I'm five points off my course. How likely am I to get it if I go up by five points with rechecks?

CAO have to make you an offer if you have the necessary point and meet minimum entry requirements. This offer will not come until mid October as recheck results are only out then. If you are successful you can choose to start this course and be six weeks behind or have a placed deferred for you for the following academic year.

I haven't yet received an offer on my CAO application. Could it be late or does it mean I haven't got a place?

If there is no offer in your CAO account online, then you have no offer.   This is the definitive place to check.   Offers in the post can be late.   Even if you don't have any offers you will still receive correspondence from CAO.

  • 10:09

If I accept a level 8 offer (2nd choice) and I get my 1st choice level 6/7 on 2nd round offer, can I then switch to the level 6/7 offer

    Yes.

  • 10:13

My son got 375 points. His first option is nursing in DCU. He qualifies for a reduction of 70 on the HEAR scheme. He would therefore have just enough to get in going on last years points, but he has got no offer at all !

I would need to know what course it is exactly. Gen nursing or Children and General.

DC 215 General nursing - 2014 points-435*- * meaning that not all applicants with 435 places got offered a place

    DC 218- Children & general Nursing - 475*

Please get back to me if needs be.

  • 10:14

Hi I have 410 points and applied for Ancient and Medieval Historty at TCD , what are my chances of entry ? Thank you

Course TR028 Ancient and Medieval History and Culture came in at 450* today.   Given that not even all the candidates on 450 were offered a place, (random selection was used) I would be surprised if the points went down to 410.   But you'll have to wait until round two to see if it drops.

  • 10:17

Hi,I got offered my 6th choice: international relations in DCU and I am delighted, however, I did get enough points; 415 for my second choice and was not offered a place. Will I get it in the second round?

Take a look and your order of preference again. You should have received your 2nd preference if you had the points and satisfied the minimum entry requirements. My guess is that you did not satisfy the minimum entry requirements. Go check this out on www.cao.ie or www.qualifax.ie.

  • 10:18

Is there anyway to find out how many people applied for a specific course

No. I recommend that you email CAO as a last resort.

  • 10:19

Hi my daughter is one point short for medicine in NUIG she has 720, what is the likelihood of her getting it on 2nd offers

This is very hard to call.   Given that random selection was used and not everyone on 721 got a place in round one, it makes it very hard to know what is going to happen.   We don't know how many people are in that random pool on 721 waiting to be offered a place before moving down to applicants on 720.   Its a waiting game I'm afraid.

  • 10:20

My brother applied through the HEAR scheme and was accepted but he still only got a course that he had the points for and not his first or second choice. Will the hear scheme kick in in the next round?

I doubt it. I would strongly recommend that you contact the HEAR officer at that particular college. Certain requirements have to be met before HEAR can kick in. I don't have enough information to make a call on it.

    Best wishes.

  • 10:22

Re   TR332: You say the points required will be available soon, do you mean today or later and where will these be displayed

The points are up there now at http://www.tcd.ie/study/assets/pdf/TCD_2014_Round1_Min_Entry_Points.pdf

  • 10:25

    Hi There
My daughter got 505 and was offered a place in commerce UCD, she would like her second choice economics and law but it is 510. Does she have a chance in the second round

CAO must make her an offer if the points fall and she has the now  required points and meets the minimum enrty requirements. You can be offerd courses that are listed above your offer but not any courses below your course of offer.

  • 10:27

Unfortunately i didn't get a place in Round One of the CAO Offers i got 275 points and wish to take a course in Early Childhood Education however this course requires 290 points should i wait for Round Two or apply to a PLC Course?

Please check below. This question has been answered already.

  • 10:31

Hi, I have applied to do Social Science in UCC. I am slightly worried after reading a lot of analysis that says that without a Masters a lot of Arts and Social Science courses have limited job potentials.   I am wondering if this is the case ?   Thanks

Yes that would generally be the view.   These are generic type courses and would generally be followed by a more specialised course at postgraduate level.   They are still very good courses in their own right and allow students time to decide what avenue they would like to specialise in after their first degree.

  • 10:33

My son got 565 points & applied for architecture. Architecture this year 590 points. He really wants to go to DIT, is there a course for 1 year that would gain him access to year 2 in architecture or what would you suggest please?

Has he applied to UCD , UL etc? There are now possibilities to transfer into Architecture from Architectual Technology in DIT. Whether this will be an option will depend on whether he  has and where he has it on his CAO. I would advise you to contact the Dept of Architecture in DIT.

Hi, I just wanted to ask if maybe you know anything about my course specifically, DT101 Architecture in DIT. I just don't understand how I didn't get the course when I got 545 and which is 25 points over last years. I know I'm in denial but I just wanted to ask how it went up so much that I couldn't get it. It's making me paranoid that I did something wrong-an error or a miscalculation with my points or a requirement. I just wanted to know if you have any advice?

Unfortunately, points are a function of demand and supply.   This year has seen a bounce back of a lot of courses in the construction area and Architecture is one them.   Those who applied this year have obviously done very well in their Leaving Cert and have also driven up the points.

  • 10:40

Hi, I got 390 and I wanted to do the arts in pats college. Got offered Maynooth but was wondering what the chances are of the pats course going down by 5 points? Or should I accept Maynooth

I would accept NUIM and at least you have something.   Then you must just wait and hope that St. Pats comes down in round two and if you become entitled to a place you will be offered it and you decide if you want to take it or stay with NUIM.   Its impossible to predict is it will come down or not.

  • 10:40

Three points off Medicine in Galway - typically does Medicine have second round offers with reduced points requirement ?

It could but no one knows by how much. This years poinst for Medicine in NUI Galway are 721*. This means that some candidates with a score of 721 did not get accepted. If points fall those candidates will get in first. You are dowm in the queue. How many in the queue ahead of you I don't know.
How many places will come available will depend on the number of successful applicants who reject their offer or defer it. Unfortunately, I am not able to access such information.

My son was hoping for Film Studies in IADT but is 10 points short of the first round offer. As it is quite a limited course, do they have 2nd round offers? Also if he reapplies next year, can he use this years points and just submit a new portfolio?

They may have second round offers. This may happen if successful candidates reject their offer or the college opens up more places. So only time will tell. He can use this years points for next years admission.

  • 10:44

I did a Level 5 course in art and design. I got nine distinctions out of nine. I applied for 13 courses and submitted portfolios which I did well in. I had more then enough points for all my courses and did not receive a single offer from the CAO. Any advice?

This is very strange given you got nine distinctions in your FETAC course.   I would contact the CAO and query this to see if everything is in order.

  • 10:44

Hi, I received an offer for actuarial maths in DCU, I would prefer financial maths in Galway which is lower points. Is it possible to change? How? Thanks

It is not possible to change. I would advise you to contact the admissions office of both colleges to see would a transfer be possible after year one or so. This may or may not be an option.

  • 10:47

Missed out on speech and language therapy in UCC by five points but I got offered biological and chemical sciences in UCC. If I accept this offer can I still accept round two offers? Or if I come up in rechecks can I go into it? Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can accept it in round two and move to Speech and Language. Results from rechecks are out in mid-October. If you have the necessary points and minimum requirements CAO must make you an offer. You can choose to join this course six weeks late or defer your place for the following academic year.

  • 10:48

I can see there were no 2nd round offers for Commerce UCD last year. Can you advise if there were in 2012/2011? I am five points short.

I don't have that information to hand but, to be honest, whether there were or not will tell you very little about this year.   There could have been very different circumstances then and now so it is very hard to draw any conclusions.   There is no way of knowing what the current applicants who have been made an offer in round one are going to do and hence whether there will be offers in round two or not.

  • 10:49

I got offered a place in UCD but failed my third language. I was accepted so that won't matter, right?

They made you an offer so you obviously met the necessary entry requirements. Well done. Your in.

  • 11:17

I was offered medicine in Trinity, but I am having cold feet about whether to accept. Do you have any advice?

I would accept it for now to give yourself more time to think about it and if you decide not to do it then contact the college and let them know. You need to discuss this with your parents to tease out the issues behind your uncertainty.   It may be the case that you need more facts about the course you have been offered before you make up your mind for definite.

  • 11:19

If I accept my Level 7 offer can I change if I get offered my Level 8 course in round two?

Yes, in round two if you are offered a higher preference course then it is your choice whether to accept one of the new offers or not.

  • 11:20

Student missed first choice by five points and has accepted second choice but is hopeful the points may fall. Realistically, why would points fall for round 2? I can't see why students offered a Level 8 place wouldn't accept it. You only get one offer.

Successful candidates may defer and take a gap year etc. Candidates may have changed their mind since July 1st and now have to take the year out to reapply. The college may decide to increase the number of places.

  • 11:22

I missed out on my first Level 6 choice by five points. If I accept (the course I was offered) does that mean I still have a chance of doing my 1st choice course if its offered to me in round two or can you only accept once?

All courses listed above your offered course could be offered to you in round two if you meet the new cut off point and necessary minimum requirements. So go ahead and accept today's offer and if you get your first choice in round two you can then accept that.

  • 11:25

My daughter has been offered social science in NUIM, at 380 points, but actually now wants her next choice:   Arts in UCD (340 points required), can she get the arts course? If so, how?

I am afraid not. Your daughter put her choices in order of preferences telling the CAO that she want NUIM more than Arts in UCD. She will never in 2014 rounds get offered a course below NUI Maynooth Social Science.

Another option may be to contact NUI Maynooth and see could she transfer into Arts in Maynooth?

I hope that things work out.

  • 11:27

If I accept a Level 6/7 offer in round one, which would be my first choice at that level, does it preclude me from being offered a Level 8 course in round two which I have as my 3rd or 4th choice? Thank you

No. You will still be offered a Level 8 providing that you meet all necessary requirements. Go ahead and accept your Level 6/7. It will have no effect on your Level 8 listing.

  • 11:28

I got 505 points in my Leaving Cert and have been offered my second choice, Civil Engineering, 405 points.   This, I realise now, is my preferred choice.   If I am offered my first choice, Psychology 510 points, in future rounds will I have to accept Psychology?

No you will not have to accept it. You have the choice to stay put or move to Psychology.

    Good luck.

  • 11:31

Hello, I didn't receive an offer for the course I wanted today. If I apply after 12 noon tomorrow via "Available Places" for this course that I didn't get accepted for on my CAO, when will I hear if I got accepted?
    Thanks.

Offers through available places are made alongside round two offers.

    Good luck.

  • 11:33

Hi my daughter applied for Carlow IT Early childhood care and education with seven distinctions in Fetac Level 5 childcare (last year the minimum entry requirement was three distinctions) but she has not been offered a place.   How is that possible?

There are a few possibilities here.    There are specific FETAC courses linked to specific CAO courses.   She needs to check that she has the right FETAC course.   Secondly there are mandatory modules within FETAC courses that must be passed in order to get a full FETAC award.   If she does not have a full award she may not make the link.   I would suggest contacting the admissions office in Carlow and they should be able to see what the issue is.

  • 11:36

If I do a Level 6 in business in DIT can I go on and transfer to a Level 8 in DCU?

Transfers between colleges are possible but they are carried out on a case by case basis and depend on a number of factors in the given year you want to transfer, eg your grades, your subjects in college, if places are available in DCU, etc.   Maybe give DCU a ring but they may not be able to give a you a definitive answer to this question now.

  • 11:37

Sorry, the radiography course in UCD was 530 this year and now says it has reduced by 14 points but now says 550. Is this a glich on the career portal website?

2014 points for this course is 550. round 1

    2013 points 535 round 1

    2013 points 530* round 2

  • 11:39

I got an offer today for first rounds for my second choice but only in an email. Did I not get a letter because I didn't get my first choice or will it be coming later?

No you should receive a letter also. The post could be delayed but once you have been made an offer in your CAO it means that you have that course.

  • 11:41

I have been offered my first choice in NUIM, but I was wondering is it possible to defer for a year? If so how would I do it? Or would I have to just reject the offer and reapply next year?

Generally yes but you need to ring NUIM admissions immediately to find out if they will allow you to defer for your specific course.   There is a procedure laid out in the CAO handbook re deferrals so you need to follow this but the important thing is to act quickly and not to delay.

    PROCEDURE

If the HEI has confirmed that it operates deferred entry to the course in question, on receipt of an Offer Notice:

    1. Do NOT accept the offer in the manner shown on the Offer Notice.

    2. Write or e-mail IMMEDIATELY to the Admissions Office of the appropriate HEI. Give your name as it appears on your CAO application, quote your 2014 CAO Application Number and the Course Code of the offer you wish to defer, and set out the reason(s) for the request. Mark "DEFERRED ENTRY" clearly on the envelope or in the Subject Line of your e-mail.

    3. The letter or e-mail must arrive in the Admissions Office at least two days before the "Reply Date" shown on the Offer Notice.

    4. The HEI will communicate their decision to you. If the deferral is not granted, you may then accept the offer for the current year.

You must send all communications about deferral to the appropriate Admissions Office and NOT to CAO.

Hi, my daughter got the exact points needed for   her first choice, Nursing in UL (455) but wasn't offered a place. She was offered her 2nd choice in UCD. Best option to accept 2nd choice and hope first choice comes up in 2nd round

She may not of got it due to random selection. I would advise her to accept her second choice and she can move if she gets UL in the next round.

What are the points for business studies in UL (LM050)

    405

  • 11:44

Can you get your leaving cert exam rechecked the year after you've done it? Or does it have to be a certain time in the year that you did the exams?

There is a deadline for rechecks every year. So I am afraid not.

  • 11:45

My daughter got the points she needed for Arts in Maynooth, in fact 10 points above and met all the requirements, however she didn't get her choice. is it possible she's going to get offered a place at round 2?

If she got above the cut off points and has met all the entry requirements then she should have been offered the course in round one.   If she didn't either she didn't meet all entry requirements or there is an issue. She should contact the admissions office in NUIM to seek clarification.

  • 11:46

The CAO mixed up my application and never noted that I received a full fetac level 5 award at distinction level and that was the only reason I missed out on my course because I did not have that minimum entry requirment. anything I could do

Did you let the CAO know this when you checked your Statement of Record back in May. I would advise you to contact CAO via email and quote your application number.

  • 11:48

Filled out my CAO completely wrong. Only got offered my first preference level 6/7 although I would have the points to do a level 8.. Can I apply to CAO vacancies tomorrow or is that only for people who have not applied to the CAO?

You can apply tomorrow. Vacant places are for exisiting and new applicants.

    Good luck.

  • 11:49

I have been offered my 4th choice which is a science based course, should I accept and if I do will it effect my chances of being offered one of my other choices in the next round. Thank you

If you accept your 4th preference offer then all course preferences below this are gone.   However if you become entitled to a higher preference course (above 4th choice) then you will be offered this and you decide whether to accept the new offer or not, but remember there is no guarantee you will be made any more offers in the next rounds.

  • 11:50

Didn't get my first choice (UCD architecture) as the points for it were 490 and I only received 470 is it likely to drop on the second round?

It depends on the number of people who don't accept their offer, how many are in the queue before you or if the college are going to make more spaces available on this course. I do not have access to these statistics.

  • 11:51

A friend of mine got 15 points more than needed for Sports Management and Coaching in Blanchardstown, but received a "we are unable to offer you any places" message. Why might this be?

Check to see if she has satisfied the minimum entry requirements. You will find this on the college website or www.cao.ie.

    Good luck.

  • 11:52

If I accept my 2nd choice Level 6/7 is there still a chance to accept my first choice Level 6/7 if offered to me in round 2? Or can I only accept one?

Accept your offer. You can still be offered your choices above this in a later round.

  • 11:54

My son met all the requirements but didn't get an offer for his first choice, should he accept the offer he did get or wait?

I would advise you to contact CAO via email. Quote your CAO application number. I can see no reason for not getting an offer if he satisfied the cut off points and the minimum entry requirements.

  • 11:58

My daughter was accepted for DARE. She got 450 points and was offered her fourth choice on a course with 420 points without DARE. Should she have been offered a higher one as she got the minimum requirements? Thanks

Maybe the higher preference courses are in colleges that are not part of the DARE scheme? I would advise you to contact the DARE advisor in the colleges of interest. You will find contact details on www.accesscollege.ie

  • 12:04

I was offered a place in DBS (not my first choice) my first choice was in DIT, however I do meet all the requirements for the DIT course just didn't get enough points for it .   Could I still get offered a place (It was a level 6) Thanks

Yes. If the points go down and you then have the necessary cut off points, CAO must make you an offer. Accept your course offer as this will not affect future offers.

  • 12:04

If I got   no letter in the post, does that mean I got no offers?

No.   Firstly the best place to check if you have got any offers or not is online in your CAO account.   Even if you are not being made any offers you will still receive correspondence from CAO so the fact that you have received nothing sounds as if the there is a postal issue.   Try go online to your account and see what is there.

  • 12:07

I have 445 points and applied for TR005. I have checked and their minimum points for this course this year is 400. However I did not get an offer.

The only issue that comes to mind here is entry requirements.   You need to check the entry requirments for the course and see if you have met them.   If you feel you have then I would email CAO via their website and seek answers.

  • 12:15

Hi, I received my 2nd choice offer of a place in UCC as I got more points for being a DARE applicant. However, I would prefer (I now realise) my third choice course which is in CIT. I would have gotten this if I had not received a points reduction for UCC. Is there any way of dropping my DARE status so that I can receive an offer for the CIT course?

No, this is not possible and you cannot go down the list of preferences to your 3rd preference.

  • 12:16

I got offered Business Management, DIT Level 8, however, due to changes in personal/family situation, I need to work for this year towards college costs, etc to be able to take my place in September 2015. I need to defer my offer. Any advice on this would be much appreciated. Many thanks

I recommend that you contact the college by letter or by email explaining your reasons for wanting to defer. They will have the option as to whether to accept or decline your request. If they accept they will defer a place next year for you providing that you place this and only this cours eon your CAO.

You could look up the course on the college website and see the number of contact hours that are needed for this course. Could you pursue a part-time course. Contact the finance /fees department and query if they can give you any financial assistance.

    Good luck

My son got 405 points but lowest CAO option 450 points, so not offered anything.   He didn't apply for arts in UCD but interested in joint economics/statistics, which I think is around 340 points. Any chance of Arts offers in clearing ?

They generally refer to courses in the UK as Arts so you would be looking for a course call economics with ...   I had quick look and saw a few economics courses.   Check out www.ucas.com/clearing

  • 12:23

Hi, getting back as requested! You answered a query at 10.13. To confirm its General Nursing. I can't understand why he didn't get any offer? Thanks.

You need to contact the DARE officer at DCU. They have been known to give  a  maximum point reduction of 75. The point reduction will depend on many factors. Also not all DARE candidates get accepted. There may be only five places available for DARE students and eight applying. The five with the highest points will get through.

I reckon that this is what has happened in your case. Please contact the DARE advisor in DCU. You will get contact details on www.accesscollege.ie

    The very best of luck.

  • 12:25

Did Arts in TCD go up?

There is no one code for Arts in TCD.   The points vary depending on the subject combinations.   Check out this link for all Arts combinations points in TCD: http://iti.ms/YoikGx

  • 12:36

Hi, I am a HEAR scheme student, including the 70 points deduction I have the required points and have met the requirements for all of my chosen Level 8 courses but have received no offers?

Not all colleges involved with the HEAR system give  a 70 point reduction. Each college have their own policy on the HEAR and DARE schemes.

I would advise you to contact the HEAR advisor in your college of choice.

If I have here and got 390 points and got offered Arts - Youth and Family Studies. How likely will it be for me to get nursing in Trinity (420) or Childrens Studies NUIG (also 420)?

That is quite a drop. You would need a lot of applicants to reject their offer. No one knows for definite until round two but my guess would be that it will not fall by that much.

I didn't receive the required maths grade for my first choice course but I am doing a maths entrance exam before the second round offers. If I accept my second choice now can still change to my first choice if I pass in the entrance exam?

    Yes you can change.

  • 12:51

How do I go about applying for a vacancy on CAO tomorrow?

Using the CAO Vacant places is very similar to using the change of mind facility.   You open you list of courses and insert the vacant place in the list of courses in the position you would like it to be.   There are some rules around using the facility and they are clearly laid out on the CAO website under Vacant/Available places.

  • 12:51

Can we accept our third choice offer and start that course while still asking for a recheck in the hope of being offered our first choice (we are five points short)? If the recheck produces a downgrade can that prejudice the current offer?

Accept your third offer. If you get upgrade and then have the necessary points for a higher preference course, CAO will make you na offer. You will be faced with three choices here. Stay where you are, move to the new course that you now satisfy the requirements for or defer this course until the following academic year.

  • 12:53

A course that I put down when applying for my CAO did not appear on my offers for some reason. Is there any way that I could get this course in the second round of offers?

Did you receive the required points? Did you satisfy the minimum entry requirements? If the answer is yes to the questions above then I would advise you to contact CAO via email quoting your application number.

  • 12:56

Hello. Can you tell me what points for global business in DCU are this year please.

    Global Business  (France) - 490

    Global Business(Germany) - 475

    Global Business (Spain) - 490*

2014 Points in College Choice supplement in today's Irish Times.

Hi, what are the exact points for veterinary medicine and veterinary nursing 2014?

Veterinary Medicine 580 and Veterinary Nursing 465

  • 12:58

I got offered my 1st preference Level 8. If I accept, can I still accept my first preference Level 7 if I get offered it in the second round?

Yes. But make contact with the CAO and let them know so that a space can be made available to another candidate.

    Best of luck.

  • 13:00

Hi, I never got my first offer in my Level 8 courses, but got my first offer in my Level 7 course this morning. If I accept my Level 7 offer will it affect a Level 8 course being offered to me in the second round? Thanks

Accepting your level 7 will have no impact on your Level 8 listing. So go ahead and accept. If you get a Level 8 in the next round accept that and contact CAO and then reject your Level 7.

  • 13:03

Hi I got 450 on my Leaving Cert. I was hoping for DCU business studies, 440 last year, 455 this year. What are the chances of points going down by five points for round two? Or recheck for extra five points? And if I do get it, there is no guarantee of a place?

There is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear.   It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only know in round two. If you get a recheck and an upgrade in October then your new points will be backdated to round one today and whatever course you would have been offered today must be offered to you in October. In the very minor of cases where the college physically cannot offer you a place then, the college must offer you a deferred place for the following year.

  • 13:04

I got 525 points. I had speech and language therapy in Trinity as my third choice which was 525 this year but I didn't receive an offer for this course. Instead I was offered my fourth choice. I don't understand why this is.

Check to ensure that you met the minimum entry requirements?

You may of missed out due to random selection. Please refer to page 18 of CAO handbook.

  • 13:06

My daughter missed out Science in UCD by five points she got 510. Is there usually a second round offer from this course?

In recent years not really, but each year is different.

  • 13:06

I was offered my 4th choice which is in DIT. I am five points off my first choice in DCU - this course has not changed points since last year. Is it possible to get an offer of my 1st choice in the 2nd round? I am also rechecking two subjects.

Yes, it is possible to get an offer of your first choice in round two. If you are granted an upgrade and then have sufficient points for your first choice the CAO must offer you a place.

Go ahead and accept your fourth choice and if your first choice comes good then you can change to that.

  • 13:09

I got an offer for Business and Accounting in Maynooth, but I would really prefer Finance and Accounting (2nd choice). I know I'm not going to get an offer for it but Is there anything I can do? Or would I have to just reapply through CAO next year?

Contact the admissions office in NUI Maynooth. Each college have their own transfer policies.

    The best of luck.

  • 13:10

I didn't get what I needed for my top three and passed a certain amount of subjects for my 4th choice DK650 but the 4th choice is for ordinary level subjects and mine are mixed between higher and ordinary, is it possible to get a offer in 2nd round?

Not quite sure what this question is asking, could you clarify please?

  • 13:11

I had hoped to do Arts in NUIG and had it down as my first choice. I got over 300 points but only had one of the two minimum requirements of a HC3. Is there a chance I could be offered it in the second round or not? Thanks

I am afraid not. Points may vary but entry requirements remain static. You can repeat individual subjects in order to satisfy minimum entry requirements.

    Good luck with it.

I didn't get enough points and won't get any offers. Is a PLC my best option?

You have a number of options from PLCs, repeating, private colleges, UK colleges, etc.   All of these options are covered in an article in the Irish Times supplement today and you should read this as food for thought.

  • 13:15

Have received a CAO offer (2nd choice) but I am awaiting a reply from a direct entry application (1st Choice). If I accept the CAO offer how will that impact on my direct entry application? If I accept the CAO offer could I then reject it later?

One will not have an impact on the other. You can accept the CAO offer and reject it at a later stage.

  • 13:18

I didn't get a offer today, will I get a offer in round 2? I also got a E in math does that effect my choice?

Maths tends to be  a requirement for a lot of courses. I suggest that you look up the subject requirements for all your course choices. This should give you a clearer picture as to the likelihood of an offer in round two, if points go down.

  • 13:20

I applied for medicine from Northern Ireland but have no offers. Do I have any chance of a place? Can you please advise?

Have you made the points cut off? Have you satisfied the minimum requirements?

What places will become available at what point cut off will only be know when round two offers come out.

    Good luck with it.

  • 13:21

No question, just wanted to say brilliant service!

    Thank you. Glad to help.

  • 13:25

Received an offer of my 2nd choice which was the same points as my first choice. Should I accept this or wait for the second round to try get my first?

Accept it. You may of lost out on your first choice due to random selection (an asterisk (*) should be beside the point cut off). If successful candidates reject then spaces will become available and you may get offered your first choice. Many factors influence this though.

    Good luck.

  • 13:27

I have achieved the amount of subjects needed for my Level 6 but it says for ordinary subjects. I have mixed subjects. Could I still get an offer in round 2? It's my only option.

You must satisfy the number of honours subjects that they are looking for. The rest have to be a certain grade in honours or ordinary level. Have we answered your question?

  • 13:29

Just received offer. Do I just turn up in UCC and pay the fees?

UCC will send you literature in the post today. This will contain all the necessary dates and information.

  • 13:30

If I accept a CAO offer but get offered a non CAO course at a later date, can I then reject the CAO offer ?

Yes you can. Please do so as soon as possible so that another candidate can avail of this place.

  • 13:30

Hi, I accepted an offer from Trinity at 6.19 am but I haven't received any welcome information from Trinity or confirmation of acceptance from the CAO. What should I do as I need to apply for accommodation in Trinity?

Usually when you accept online you will get a acknowledgement email from CAO almost instantaneously.   If you haven't received this, send an email yourself to the CAO quoting your CAO application number and the time you accepted your offer.   As soon as TCD are informed of your acceptance,  within hours you will receive a welcome email from them with registration instructions.   In relation to accommodation, don't panic as places are not allocated on a first come first served basis so you have plenty of time yet.

  • 13:33

I accepted my CAO offer at around 6.30 this morning and I didn't receive any confirmation of acceptance from the CAO, and I received no email correspondence from them all year (I have checked spam and trash and the email address provided is correct).

You received the offer so I guess email addresses are okay. See response below. It sounds like you need to email CAO immediately.

  • 13:34

My brother got accepted to carlow it got offered his first choice level 7 course. Am I right in saying that he won't be offered below that? His second choice was Waterford which I think he would prefer. Can he apply for Waterford any other?

He will not get offered anything below this for 2014 offers. He could reapply next year.

  • 13:34

Does NUIG accept students in mid-October after the appeals process if my points go up or will I have to wait until next year to enrol? I'm applying for Speech and Language Therapy.

If there is a place available then you will be offered it in October.   If however they physically cannot offer you a place they must at the very least offer you a deferred place for the following year.   Colleges generally do their utmost to get students a place this year but if they can't at least you are guaranteed the place the following year.

    450 2014 points.

  • 14:33

I'm just enquiry for a friend who got 335 and is hoping to her offered a place in UCD Arts during the second. However, he did Foundation level Irish. Would it be true in telling him, he won't be offered the place?

He needs an OD3 in higher or ordinary level Irish. Could he repeat Irish in academic year 2014/15? This can be done in order to satisfy minimum entry requirements.

    Good luck.

  • 14:34

I got 4th choice at UCC with 445, 15 points short for 1st choice CK110. What are my chances of 2nd round offer on this course?

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear.   It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.

  • 14:38

Hi, I got 365 points, enough for my course, product design, in Maynooth, and have the requirements, but did not get offered it. Anyone know why this may have happened?

The cut off point was 365*. This means that it came down to random selection. So many candidates had the same points but there was not enough availability to satisfy all candidates so they used the random selection procedure. You have been unlucky.

Is there any chance that you have an exemption from Irish and this has gone unnoticed by NUI Maynooth?

  • 14:39

I applied for Ancient History at TCD I got 410 points, under the new system the points have risen to 450. I completed the additional project work as requested. What are my chances in the second round? Also, I cant find any points for my second option, TR112. Thanks

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear. It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.   Not sure what course you are referring to TR112?

My son got 405 points in Leaving and had social sciences UCC as his 1st choice. This took a huge jump from previous years - 385 up to 415 so he's gutted. Was this due to demand and would it be wishful thinking to hope he'd have any chance in 2nd round?

Yes it was due to an increase in demand and possibly higher points from those who applied this year.   Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear. ;It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.

  • 14:43

Hi, I received 475 points which is 15 less than my desired course, Sports Science in DCU. I accepted an offer for the same course in Tallaght IT for 410 points this morning. I am wondering what chances I have of being offered DCU in the second round of offers and will my acceptance of the offer in Tallaght IT affect my offers in the second round?

Accepting your course in ITT will not affect your chances of getting your desired course in DCU.

Courses may drop points in round 2 depending on how many successful candidates reject their offer or if the college makes more places available.

  • 14:45

Hi, I got 505 and wanted Science which has now jumped to 515. I then had Law and Health & Performance Science which have all also jumped.     I have been offered Ag Science. If I accept, do I still get a second round offer? I would prefer to do Health and Performance Science.

Yes you will get a second round offer if the points for your course choices above ag science come down and you then have the necessary cut off points.

  • 14:46

I received communication today that I have no offers. I applied as a mature student, at least I believe I did. Should I wait or have I been assessed on my Leaving Cert and not as a mature applicant?

I would advise you to contact CAO immediately.

Get back onto us if needs be.

  • 14:46

Is Level 8 Business & Management at DIT a course which leads to a degree conferred by TCD? If not, what is the outcome of success in the final examination? In other words where does it lead?

No, this degree is awarded by the DIT and is a very well recognised degree in its own right.   It is comparable to a Commerce or Business Studies degree.   It is a broad Business degree that allows the student to decide what are he/she might like to specialise in at a later stage at postgraduate level.

  • 14:48

I got 460 points and was offered a place in DCU. It was 5th on my list. Should I accept this or reject this in order to get second round offers? If I accept, could I be offered a higher place in round two? If so, can I then accept this second round offer? My preference was Psychology but these are 505 (NUIM), 510 (DCU) and 515 (UCD). Realistically do you think it's possible that I would be offered a place 45 points higher than my results in the second, third and subsequent rounds?

Please see answer to similar questions below. 45 points is a big ask for a course that is in such high demand. I don't think that it will drop that much. One never knows for definite until round two and so on.

  • 14:49

Hi, I got 385 points in my leaving, just wondering what are the chances of being offered general nursing in Letterkenny for the second round of offers?

It is a big jump from 385 to 400 for nursing so the chances of an offer are slim I would imagine. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear.    It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.

  • 15:00

Hi, I did not get any offers in Round 1 - will I be offered anything in Round 2?

This depends on a lot of things: your points, the courses you applied for, whether places on courses you applied for become available, the position of courses on your list of preferences, etc.   Really it is just a waiting game until round two offers day to see what happens.

  • 15:01

Hi, I got 385 points in my leaving, just wondering what are the chances of being offered general nursing in Letterkenny for the second round of offers?

2014 points 400* so you will have people who got the cut off points and still did not get in. All unsuccessful candidates will be numbered in a queue and those with the highest points are most likely to get in if places become available. Places become available if successful candidates reject their offer.

  • 15:03

Hi, I didn't get enough points for my first choice at TCD, I was offered my second choice at UCD.
I have now seen a course at TCD which I didn't apply for but got enough points. Can I apply for this today via my CAO account? Thanks.

No, unfortunately not.   You cannot make any changes to your CAO application now, not since the 1st of July actually.   The only courses you can add in to your list now are courses from the vacant places list on the CAO website from tomorrow.

  • 15:04

My son got a DIT course. He had enough points for a Level 8 in Maynooth but had not got the minimum requirements. He is getting a recheck in one or two subjects. If he gets the recheck can he switch to Maynooth? And, if not, would he be able to get into Maynooth next year by doing a PLC course?

If the recheck means that he will then satisfy the NUI Maynooth requirements and he has the necessary cut off points then CAO will issue him an offer.

The majority of courses in NUI Maynooth accept PLC students. I would advise you to speak with the Guidance Counsellor at the PLC college.

  • 15:06

I  applied to business and arts management in IADT. The points were 205 and by reading the paper this morning they are now 230. I satisfied all entry requirements and also got 285. 55 points above. This has to be a mistake?

It does sound odd.   I would check again to make sure you met all the entry requirements especially the 2HC3s that are required.   If you feel you have satisfied all these then I would email CAO with your CAO application number and seek clarification.

My son has 310 points for Computing in Multimedia Systems/Web Engineering in IADT. Round one offers 315. How likely is it to come back? Minimum last year was 290.

It will depend on how many successful candidates will decline their offer. I do not have access to this information. We will have to wait until round two.

    Good luck.

  • 15:15

I've been offered my first choice and now feel I've made mistake. I achieved a high Leaving Cert result but fear I've made the wrong decision. what are my options now?

You can change your mind and decline. Contact the college to let them know that you will not be taking up a place. This place can then be offered to someone else.

Are you interested in your level 6/7 offer?

Would you be interested in doing a PLC?

Or in taking a year out and reapplying to the CAO?

Get back to us if you need more help.

  • 15:23

I received an offer of my 9th choice Level 8 course and 2nd from Level 6/7. If I accept the Level 8 offer could I still receive other offers in later rounds? What happens if I don't accept either of today's offer?

Yes. You can still get offered Level 8 courses above your ninth choice in the next round.

If you don't accept your Level 8 you will only get another Level 8 if points on your course list come down.

Whether you accept your Level 6/7 will have no impact on offers in round two. You will always only get offered courses above the course that you got offered.

  • 15:25

I never got offered any of my Level 8 courses even though I've the correct points and minimum requirements for most of them, only offered one Level 7. Will I be offered those Level 8s in the second round if there are places?

You should of been offered your first course of preference in which you satisfied the points cut off and the minimum requirements. Contact CAO by email and have this checked out.

  • 15:27

I got 285 in my Leaving. I went for business and arts management in (IADT) for 205. Read the paper this morning and the points have risen to 230. I have more than 50 points over. I fulfilled all entry requirements but I didn't got an offer. This must be wrong?

Please contact CAO via email. Quote your application number. Something doesn't sound right.

  • 15:28

How do I convert UCAS points into Leaving Cert points? Say 220 Ucas points?

    Use this table

    http://www.ucas.com/how-it-all-works/explore-your-options/entry-requirements/tariff-tables-i-z

  • 15:28

On my postal offer notification, my point score was under only some of the course choices. Do you know why and what this means?
    Thanks

This means that you were not eligible for the other course maybe due to points or minimum requirements.

  • 15:32

Hi, I have changed my mind since recently about what course I want to do. I want now to go with my third choice on the CAO the only problem is I have got my first choice. Can I do anything or do I have to go with my first choice that I was offered?

Unless both courses are in the same college. If this is so, contact the admissions office and enquire about their transfer policy.

Otherwise you will have to wait to reapply next year.

  • 15:33

My son got 515 points and wanted TCD Science which is 515 but he has not got a place due to random selection.   Can we have any idea what his chances are of getting a place in the second/third round?

I am afraid not. Nobody will know until round 2 August 27th.

  • 15:34

I got 340 points in my Leaving Certificate and I qualified for the HEAR programme. On the first round of offers I only got a Level 6/7 course where the entry points required are 180. I'm really confused as to why I did not get an offer for a HEAR place in any of the other courses where I met the minimum entry requirements     and one I was just 10 points short of. Also, is there a possibility that I could get an offer of a Level 8 course in the second round?

There is a huge amount of anxiety being generated by the lack of information about how HEAR places are being allocated by individual colleges.   My advice is to contact any particular college where you feel you should have been offered a place and seek clarification from the admissions staff.

  • 15:35

If I accept today's offer and then receive a more preferred offer at a later round, can I accept the later offer?

Yes, you can always hope to move up your preferences in successive rounds.

  • 15:36

Hi I got more than enough points for Blanchardstown IT Computing course (BN010) but did not pass five subjects.   I passed four at Higher Lever including Maths & English.

You must satisfy points cut off and minimum entry requirements in order to get an offer in any round.

You do not satisfy entry requirements and therefore will not get an offer.

You should look at repeating an individual subject next year and reapply through the CAO.

  • 15:37

My son didn't get enough points for business in DIT but got accepted into Blanch IT - do you know how easy / possible it might be to transfer to DIT after one year? Thanks

All college transfers are dealt with on a case by case basis and depend on a number of factors.   For further information on the possibility of doing this I would speak to the admissions office in DIT.

  • 15:38

Hi, I recently just got my round one offers and noticed my first and second choice were not offered. I assume this is because I had failed English, because I acquired the points needed and all the other specific requirement also. My question to you is, if I was to appeal English and pass it would I be offered first or second choice?     Or would it be too late because of the deadline of the round offered?

If you got upgraded and had the points for your first choice then CAO would issue you an offer for this course.

Offers from rechecks will be made in mid October.

  • 15:40

I was offered my first choice today for UCD but in the meantime, I have changed my preference to my second choice, being Maynooth. Is there any chance I could accept my first then get an offer for my second later on? Thank you

I am afraid not. You will never get offered courses below your offer.

  • 15:43

I managed to get 570 points this year in my Leaving Cert, however, I don't deem it     an achievement.
Veterinary was the only thing I had down in my CAO which means that I am 10 points off.
I'm getting four papers appealed (an A2, 2 B1's and a C1 in maths) but I'm wondering what are the chances of being brought up to find the points I'm lacking?

I cannot answer that. Your paper will   be looked at closely. I am sure that you will be granted an upgrade if warranted. Results from rechecks are out mid Oct. If you have the necessary points then the CAO must make you an offer.

  • 15:46

Hi, my son received no email with CAO offer this morning. He was accepted to apply through the DARE scheme. Would this delay my offer coming through?

No, just because you are eligible for DARE should not delay your offer.   Have you logged into your CAO online account to see if there is anything in there.   Might be no harm to check.

  • 15:46

I am eligible for dare, was it included in my offers i received today or does it come separately

All offers are the same whether you have received a point reduction from DARE or not. You will know by looking at the cut off points and your total points. If there is a difference then DARE has helped out.

  • 15:46

I got 535 points and got offered my fourth choice   occupational therapy(TCD). If I accept, can I still be offered top three physiotherapy(RCSI) or radiation therapy in second round.

    Yes, see answers below.

  • 15:47

Hi, I'm just wondering if you can get your Leaving Cert results checked a year after you've done the exam?

    No.

  • 15:48

I received 475 points in the Leaving Cert this year. I applied for commerce in UCD but the points jumped to 490 and I was offered Arts in UCD instead. I'm getting four scripts rechecked and I'm wondering, if I go up a sufficient amount of points, will commerce definitely be offered to me in October?

If you have the sufficient points after the recheck the CAO, has to make you an offer. You can join a few weeks late or defer your place until the following academic year.

  • 15:50

My daughter was five points short for an offer for Science from Trinity.

I believe that with Trinity you can write a letter saying how you really want to do the course and an explanation why.
Do you know about this and whom should I address the letter?

This route does not apply to the Science course. You will have to wait to see if points go down in round two.

  • 15:51

Hi, I got 480 points but was 15 points away from my first choice. I just saw that my first choice has now dropped to 485. I was offered my second choice. Should I accept this? Is it possible I'll be offered my first choice in the second round?

Yes, you should accept this as there is no guarantee that you will get any other offers.   If you do become entitled to a higher preference course in round two (1st choice) you will be offered it even having accepted your second preference.

  • 15:52

Got 360 in my Leaving Cert. I was offered a Level 8 course at 360 points but would prefer the Level 7 at 365 points. If I accept the Level 8, and the points of the Level 7 drop in the second round, can I still be offered the Level 7 course?

Yes. Your Level 8 and Level 6/7 are separate.

  • 15:54

I got an offer Level 8 today but wanted arts in UCC. I got 305 points I have been accepted on a HEAR scheme. Will I get an offer in the second round?

There is a huge amount of anxiety being generated by the lack of information about how HEAR places are being allocated by individual colleges.   My advice is to contact UCC and seek clarification from the admissions staff.

  • 15:56

Hi, I hope you will have time to answer a few little queries regarding my sons Leaving Cert. If he chooses not to accept either of his two offers (Level 7/6 or Level 8)     this year would he be able to reapply to the CAO next year again using this years (2014) results?

If he can, is it the same applying process as he did this year?

If he gets some of his subjects rechecked and if he was awarded higher grades and gets his first choice would he be automatically offered it in October even if he had not accepted either of his offers from today?

If he got more points after his subjects are rechecked do you have to contact the CAO and let them know this or will they automatically get back to you with another offer.

    Thanks for the help.

Yes he can reapply using 2014 results and it will be the exact same procedure.

He would be automatically be offered his course choice if he goes up in the rechecks and now have the necessary points. CAO will automatically get back to you with an offer.

You can choose to join the course a few weeks late or have your placed deferred until September 2015.

  • 15:56

Hi, I'm just enquiring on behalf of a friend who received 335 and is hoping to be offered UCD Arts in the second round. However, he has foundation level Irish and I don't think he meets the requirements for UCD Arts, will he be offered a place??

Not if he has not got a minimum of a OD3 in Irish.

  • 15:58

I got offered arts in NUIG and dental nursing in Trinity this morning, but they were only backups (I got 390 altogether). If I accept the Level 7 course will I still get a Level 8 offer in the second round?

You will providing that the points drop and you now meet the points and minimum requirements.

Accepting a Level 7 offer will have no impact on future Level 8 offers.

  • 15:59

I got 355 points. I applied for arts in Maynooth which dropped to 350 and I did not get an offer. Should I still wait?

Based on what you describe you should have received an offer.   Have you satisfied all the entry requirements?   If so then I would contact the CAO with your CAO number and seek clarification.

  • 16:00

My son got a full distinction award (major I think) 5M0828, in a Fetac 5 but has received no offers. he was hoping to do computer science, or web development. Three of the five listed courses have the asterisks against them. Very worried.

I recommend that you contact CAO via email. You must make sure that he got distinctions in all necessary modules and that his PLC code matches up with his CAO course choices. Please get back to us if needs be.

    The best of luck.

  • 16:01

Hi, I got offered my 2nd choice in NUIM for Psychology (505), but UCD was my first option with it needing 515 points. I got 510 in my Leaving Cert, so what are they chances that I may be offered the UCD course in the future rounds? Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear. It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.

  • 16:02

My Daughter got 585 and her first choice was Global Business USA. We thought she was safe going on last year points. There was random selection at 585. Is there any chance in the second round?

That is very unfortunate. It will all depend on the number of successful candidates who decline their offer and if places then become available.

We wish you the very best with it.

  • 16:02

If you did not get your first choice, and you accept your second choice, can you go back and accept your first choice if the points in round two drop for it?

    Yes, see previous answers.

  • 16:03

Where can you check round 1 + round 2 points for courses going back a few years? I want to see what Commerce UCD has been over last few years and if it ever goes down in second round. Thanks

    www.cao.ie statistics

  • 16:03

I applied to the CAO, got the required points and have been offered the course I wanted. However, due to personal circumstances, I now do not want to go to college this year. Can I reapply to the CAO next year based on my points this year (and change my courses)?

    Absolutely.

  • 16:04

My son accepted his Level 6/7 course in  NCI. Can he still get offered his first choice in DIT?

Yes, if it is higher up his list of preferences.

  • 16:06

I applied for Arts in UCD but got 330 points. As my heart is set on Arts in UCD, please let me know if there is a chance of an offer in round 2 - I meet all requirements except for having 10 points less than required.

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear. It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.

  • 16:06

Got offered the course I wanted but put down the wrong college in error.   Have enough points for the college I wanted.   Is there anything I can do

No. This should of been checked when you recieved your statement from CAO. I would advise you to contact CAO.

  • 16:08

got 415 points and I got offered my second choice in WIT, my first choice was in UCC, could I still get it?

Yes if the points for UCC come down and you now meet the cut off points. We will have to wait until August 27th to find out.

    The best of luck.

  • 16:09

can I still get offered my first choice if I didn't get the points for it

Yes but only if the points come dowm in round 2 and match your point total and that you satisfy minimum requirements.

  • 16:11

Did general nursing in WIT go up?

Check out the Irish Times College Choice supplement in todays paper. It went down 5 pts but went to random selection.

  • 16:12

My daughter achieved 595pts in her Leaving Cert and she has been offered her first choice CAO course however she fears that she may have made the wrong choice, what options are available to her now?

The only other courses your daughter could get from the CAO this year are vacant place courses.   Other than that she will not receive any other applications from the CAO.   She could look at taking a year out and reapplying through the CAO next year or she could look at courses in the UK through clearing or courses in the EU through EUnicas.

  • 16:15

Hello, my son got 475 points. He wanted to go to Trinity to study Functional Science, he got an offer of DCU and has accepted it In round two, is there a possibility that other students do not accept their offers and my son would have a chance of getting an offer in Trinity (it was his 1st preference)? Thank you.

Yes.   If a place becomes available in round two and he is entitled to this place he will be offered it regardless of what he did withhis offer from round one.

  • 16:18

My son is offered Level 8 Sport Management & Coaching     (rugby) at IT Carlow and Level 7 Health & Leisure IT Tralee. He has a passion for sport. Could you give him guidelines on each of these courses so that he can make an informed decision on his course choice and who he can go to get advice? Thank you

I would advise you to go onto www.cao.ie. You can look up course aims, contents etc. Or go to www.qualifax.ie . Search all courses. Click Higher Education CAO on left handside.

Compare the course content, assessment, work experience and length of course. All this should help to make a more informed decision. Maybe speak to a course co-ordinator. Numbers will be provided on the website.

  • 16:23

My daughter was 10 points short for arts in ucd what are the chances of an offer in 2nd round?

It will depend on the number of successful candidates who reject their offer of this course. This may result in places being offered at lower points.

  • 16:24

Hi, I am starting bio analysis Level 7 in Tallaght IT. Can it help me move to GMIT marine biology next year? Thanks

All college transfers are done on a case by case basis each year.   You would need to contact GMIT to seek their opinion about the IT Tallaght course for transfer purposes and whether it is something they would consider.

  • 16:28

Hi, I got 335 and didn't get an offer of arts in UCD it was 340 today, but my friend who also got 335 did get an offer, why has this happened? Will I possibly be offered a place in round two, I meet all the minimum requirements

The minimum points to get into Arts in UCD is 340.   Maybe your friend qualified under the HEAR or DARE scheme or some other supplementary scheme. If the points drop below 340 in round two you may be offered a place in round two.

  • 16:28

I have a place on a PLC and have now been offered a Level 8.   I want to do the PLC but will this affect my grant? Should I defer or reject the Level 8 and start again next year? Also, if I defer is this my only choice next year?

You can defer your Level 8 and spend the year doing a PLC. This will not affect your grant. You will continue to get the grant as long as you're progressing in education.

If you defer this will be your only choice for next year. If it is not you will lose your deferred place.

  • 16:30

Hi can you tell me the points for Product Design and Technology in UL?

    400

  • 16:30

What is the procedure if a student has accepted an offer today but gets a better offer in round two. How does it work if they want the second offer instead?

Accept the second offer and contact the college from the first offer and decline it immediately.

  • 16:32

Just wondering why there is no points afilliated with TL700 and TL800 in Tralee? They are the courses I applied for and got no offers as a result!

I would advise you to contact admissions in Tralee IT. The course may or may not have been discontinued.

Received an offer for pharmacy technician in Letterkenny IT. As this is is a higher certificate course, is there follow on study I can do to gain my Level 8 qualification in Ireland? Also, am I able to take a vacant place course? How does that work?

Please see answer below on vacant places and how it works. You can apply for vacant places as you are a registered applicant. There is no additional fee for this service. There is a follow on study to Pharmacy. I would advise you to speak with members of your faculty at Letterkenny IT. You can contact them straight away.

  • 16:36

I accepted my second choice this morning of CK101 but I also got enough points for my first choice CK117 and I've met all the entry requirements. Should I wait to see if I got my first choice in round two?

This is strange as both courses have the same cut off points and the same entry requirements and if CK117 is your 1st preference theoretically you should have been offered this today.   I would email CAO through their website and give them all the details and seek clarification.

  • 16:37
For those DARE students with queries about points reductions and place quotas for entry into DIT, please visit: dit.ie/disability/admissionsdare.
  • 16:38

Hi. First of all, thank you for your wonderful help and advice to date. Secondly, if a course is showing a 15 point increase on last year, is this only for Round 1 offers and is there any hope of the point cut-off being lower on round 2?

We don't know whether the points will drop or not. It depends if more people reject their college offer than what the college perdicted. If this happens places become available. They mostly come available and slightly lower points.

  • 16:40

I have the correct points for my course but I haven't got any offers at all? Will it come out on second round?

If you have the correct points for the course and you met the entry requirements you should have been offered the place today.   Have you met the entry requirements for the course?   If you think you have then I would email CAO to see what has happened.

  • 16:42

I got 460 points. I got no offer today. One of my courses was international business in DCU which is 465. is there a chance I would get an offer in round 2? can i apply direct to the college now?

You cannot apply to the college directly for this course. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear. It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.

  • 16:42

Hi, thanks for the service I received my second choice level 8   in C.I.T and I accepted it this morning at half 10. I received the accept email from CAO only I haven't gotten an email yet from C.I.T is there a problem? Should I contact CIT ?

I don' t think so. CIT will probably send you out an information pack today. Don't panic. Contact them in a few days if you haven't heard anything. The main thing i sthatyou received confirmation from CAO.

  • 16:43

If  I accept my third choice offer today, am i still able to receive a round 2 offer even though i've already accepted, provided there are spaces on my higher courses?

Yes, see replies below similar to this.

  • 16:44

Hi, i got 505 and wanted science which jumped to 515 i got offered chemical and pharmaceutical science instead, if i accept am i still eligible for a round 2 offer, i would prefer to do science

Yes if science is a higher preference course on your list.

  • 16:45

didn't get any offers on cao round one will i wait for round 2 and how do i go about getting into a uk collage if i didn't fill out ucas form

keep your options open and apply to a PLC in a college of Further Education. This can be used as a progression route into third level.

You could alse keep an eye on vacant places on teh cao website starting from tomorrow.

Look up www.ucas.com. check out the clearing system.

Get back onto us if needs be.

    The best of luck.

  • 16:45

I have 38 IB points which is the equivalent of 510 CAO points, but have not had offers for History or English at UCD, or for History at Trinity, despite being over the threshold. What can I do? If necessary I am happy to defer.

This is one for the admissions offices of TCD and UCD.

  • 16:46

got 445, got Commerce with Spanish at UCC I wanted World Languages 460points.   Do you think I might get it in 2nd round?

  • 16:47

I got 525 on my Leaving Cert which got me my first offer (DN600 LPS) although I would much, much rather do my second choice (DC230). I hadn't expected to get so many points. Is there anything I can do?

Unfortunately not.   Once you got your first offer you are finished as far as the CAO is concerned.   You can never move down your list of preferences.

  • 16:47

    Thank you.   Fantastic Service

    Thank you.

The best of luck. Here all day tomorrow.

  • 16:48

got 260 points and Print and digital media technology management in DIT is 270 is there any chance i would get this in the second round.

Similar question to this answered below. Please take a look.

  • 16:49

Hi, my daughter got 460 points and had computer science in Trinity first on her CAO, then UCD and was offered her 3rd choice of computer science in DIT. Do you think there is a chance of her being offered Trinity or UCD in the 2nd round?

Please see similar mails and answers below.

    Thank you.

  • 16:50

I got 335, and have the requirements for all but two of the 18/19 courses i applied for, yet was not offered any places, i noticed my birthdate is wrong on the review form, could incorrect details stop my chances of being offered   a place?

It could possibly, depending how wrong it is.   Contact the CAO and give them the details and seek clarification.

Hi, I got 345 points in my leaving, just wondering if I take my round 1 offer in tralee but the Mathmatic entrance exam and pass it can i get technology management in my second round offers as it is 300 points but I got a C1 in maths and needed a B3?

Yes if you satisfy the Maths and you have the points and it is   placed above any offers received then CAO will offer it to you.

  • 16:53

Hi, I got 305 points in my leaving and was offered 9th choice from my list with requirement of 230 points. I had Dún Laoghaire college as my fifth choice and I needed 285 points for that. Should I not get my fifth choice first?

Theoretically yes, but did you check the entry requirements to see if you have met them for the DLIADT course?

  • 16:54

I got 310 points but qualified for HEAR. I got an offer of arts in UCC (CK101) which is 345 but that's the same amount as my first choice economics (CK117). Why didn't I get an offer for that?

You are competing against other HEAR applicants for HEAR college places. You were too far down on the HEAR list for available places in CK117. I recommend that you speak with the HEAR advisor in UCC. You can get the contact details on www.accesscollege.ie.

  • 16:55

I never applied to Tralee  IT when doing my CAO. the points for my course there this year is 250. I got 360. Is there any way of applying now?

Not unless it is one of the vacant place courses on the CAO website.   These are the only courses you can add in to your application at this stage.

I got 70 points over the points for the course I wanted and have not been offered anything, what do I do?

It sounds as if you may not have satisfied minimum entry or subject requirements for that particular course and college. Check this out and get back to us if needs be.

  • 16:59

Hi, if I have been given my fourth choice on CAO list and I satisfied entry requirement for rest of them, ie from choice number 5 to 10. But the CAO don't offer me to pick any one of them. Do you know why? Choice number 5 is attracting me more now!

This is because of the order you put the courses down on your CAO application.   You said you preferred your fourth preference more than your fifth so you have been offered your fourth instead of your fifth.   Unfortunately you cannot change your mind at this stage.

  • 16:59

Hi, I have applied for general nursing and mature one but didn't not get all point for the mature test. So far I did not receive any offer at all but did great on a pre-nursing PLC course with 9 distinction. Could I apply for a different vacant course?

You can apply for courses on available places. This service opens up tomorrow at midday. Make sure that CAO are aware of your PLC results.

  • 17:01

I did my LC this year and got 355 points, passed my subjects, but didn't get any offers today? I understand not getting the courses with 355+ point requirements but don't understand how I didn't get offered the likes of AL838 (295) which I had down

You should have gotten an offer if you satisfied the points cut off and subject/minimum entry requirements. Look these up and if still in doubt contact CAO via email and quote your application number.

  • 17:03

I got 450 points in my Leaving Cert and was hoping a 30 point gap would be enough to get Film and Screen Media, which shot up to 460. What are the chances that I will get an offer on round two? Also how many places are available for this course?

No one will know until August the 27th. Please see answers to similar questions below.

  • 17:03

My son has 505 points but hasn't received 1st round offers for his 1st choice of Architecture in UCD which is 490 points.   He is also a DARE Eligible Applicant as he has dyslexia and has submitted his psychologists report

Points wise he should have been offered Architecture.   I am wondering about entry requirements.   Is he exempt from languages and has he informed the CAO if he has gained language exemptions?   This is a common issue.   Email CAO with details and seek clarification.

  • 17:06

My Daughter got 585 and wanted Global Business USA. It was random selection at 585, is there any chance in the second round?

No one will know until August 27th. Successful candidates need to reject their offer in order to make room for those who got rejected due to random sampling.

  • 17:07

Hi, my son got 365 points. He was offered his first choice (Level 8) and fourth choice (Level 7), but has realised he really wants his second choice - Arts in Maynooth 350 points this year, I think.   Will he be offered it in 2nd round?

No he will not be offered any lower preferences on his Level 8 list as CAO now thinks he has the course he most wants on Level 8 - his top preference.

  • 17:11

Hi, I applied for a few PLCS because I was short 10 points for nursing. And didn't meet the requirement for maths. I've now got to interviews end of August and start of September? What happens after and when will I know I got it for accommodation?

I would imagine they will let you know very quickly if you have got a place as the course will be starting very soon afterwards.

  • 17:12

In 2012, I got 615 points in Leaving Cert and 162 in the HPAT. I didn't apply for the CAO this year but, if I did, would I have gotten medicine in UCC?   Is there any way I could be considered for the second round offers? I'm currently studying in UCC.

    615 leaving cert points  converts to 563 pts + hpat 162 = 725. 2014 724.

You would of been accepted had you applied.

The only way you would be considered in 2014 is if this course comes up under vacant places. This facility will open at midday tomorrow.

  • 17:12

My son received his first choice course from UCAS. He received his second choice from CAO. Can he accept both and see how round two CAO plays out to see if he gets his first choice course next week and reject one later?

    Yes he can.

  • 17:14

I got 270 points. I wanted to do geography in Galway. I've been offered a place to do accounting in Carlow IT. I was wondering if I do one year there and get good marks, can I transfer to Galway next year?

There is no clear answer for this as college transfers are treated on a case by case basis.   You should contact GMIT admissions and seek their view on this.

  • 17:16

I got a place in Primary Teaching in St Pats but I want to defer for a year. How do I do that? Thanks.

You must write to the admissions office either by letter or by email. Quote your name and application number. You must state your reasons for deferral. This letter should be presented to the college at least two days before the reply date shown on your offer notice. The college will then communicate their decision to you. If the deferral is not granted you may then accept the offer for the current year.

  • 17:17

Is it possible to accept my Level 6/7 offer through the CAO and at the same time defer a Level 8 offer by contacting the college in the usual way?

    I am afraid not.

  • 17:18

My son got 722 combined leaving and HPat score. She has RCSI medicine on CAO but didn't include NUI Galway. What are her chances
    A) of being offered a place in RCSI medicine in subsequent rounds and
    B) NUI Galway offering places to applicants?

It is unlikely that RCSI will drop to 722 given that it is currently at 727, but there is no way of knowing for certain.   If he didn't apply for NUIG then there is no chance of an offer there.

  • 17:18

Hi , I got 350 points in my Leaving for my course in UL, beforehand the course was 340 but has gone up by 15 points leaving me short of 5 points. Is there any chance of getting into the course in the second offers if not all places are filled?

Hi, I've been offered a course today in Dublin and it was my third choice on Level 8. If I accept this today, but get offered my preferred first choice for Level 7 on the second round, could I decline the one I accepted in Dublin?

    Yes, see various replies below.

  • 17:21

I got over the points needed for the course I wanted and have not been offered anything, what should I do?

You should check to ensure that you have satisfied certain minimum entry requirements. If you have then I would contact the CAO via email . Be sure to quote your CAO number.

Contact us again if needs be.

  • 17:26

Offered my seventh choice Level 8 course and my 3rd choice Level 7 course.   I am 40 points short of my nearest Level 8 course (Environmental Health in DT) but only five points short of my second choice at Level 7. If I accept Level 8 will I get an offer at Level 7 in round two?

Yes, if you are eligible for any offer above the one received today then you will be offered it in the next rounds.

  • 17:26
  • 17:27

What happens if one loses points as a result of rechecks to the extent that their points drop below the ones required for the course?

Your college will be contacted and it will be up to them as to whether you can remain on the course or not. It is unusual that this would happen.

  • 17:29

I got 425 points. Some of the courses I applied for had points at 280. I got offered nothing. My letter has no Leaving Cert grades on it.

I would advise you to email CAO immediately quoting your CAO.

  • 17:30

I got 455 points - hoped for an offer to do Social Work in Trinity 460 points - I am eligible for HEAR - did not get same.
got an offer for a HEAR supported course in DCU - points required 450 - had 455. Can you help?

There is a huge amount of anxiety being generated by the lack of information about how HEAR/DARE places are being allocated by individual colleges.   My advice is to contact any particular college where you feel you should have been offered a place and seek clarification from the admissions staff.

  • 17:33

I've been offered my third choice but would prefer my fourth choice which I have the points for. Do I decline my third voice offer?

You will not be offered any courses below the course that you have been offered whether you accept or reject your third choice.

Whether you accept it or not will depend entirely on you. Do you like the subjects that you would study on this course, what can one progress to do after this course, maybe speak to someone who has done this course. All of this will help you make a more informed decision.

    Good luck.

  • 17:35

I received a letter from the CAO this morning. The letter stated that the colleges with the asterisk next to them aren't willing to offer me a place, but there are still four colleges that don't have an asterisk, what does this mean?

Not clear on this could you clarify please.

  • 17:38

I didn't get any offers despite being 150 points over the required points for some courses. My letter has no reference to my Leaving Cert.

There is obviously a problem here, a mismatch of results or something similar.   I would advise urgently  contacting the CAO through their website and giving them all your details and seeking clarification.

  • 17:46

If I accept a course, can I defer it until next year while I repeat? I got offered my sixth choice but I'm not 100% sure if I want it. Will I still get offered courses higher up if I defer? Thanks

You must write to the college via email or letter. Put your name and application number on this letter. Marked deferred entry on this. The letter or email must arrive two days before the reply date shown on your offer notice. If the college grants this deferral then you can only reapply putting this course as your one and only choice. Otherwise you lose your deferral. You will still get offered courses higher up even if you defer provided that you satisfy the cut off points in round two or the following round.

  • 17:49

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I achieved 375 points in the Leaving Cert and I also have been granted the HEAR scheme and DCU access scheme.
I have applied for general nursing all over the country and I haven't received one offer. Is this a mistake?

I would advise you to get in contact with the DARE or Access officer at DCU and query this.

Check to see if you have satisfied the minimum entry requirements. We are here all day tomorrow. Contact us again if needs be. Don't worry alone. We are here to help you.

    The best of luck.

  • 17:49

My son got 445 points missing first two choices by five points. He has been offered his third choice at DIT which asked for 420 but would prefer his fourth choice now at UCD which he is forty points over. What should he do?

Unfortunately there is no way that he can go down his list of preferences.   Once he has been offered his third preference all courses below this effectively disappear.   He should accept his third choice as there is no guarantee that he will get any other offers in the next rounds.   He can then think about his third preference to see if he wants to keep it.   If not he can contact the college to turn it down.

  • 17:51

One of my students who got 495 points in his Leaving Cert has been offered his sixth choice which is GY301. This is general science in Galway and it required 400 points. The documentation that this student got from the CAO shows a figure of 979 points under this offer. This student did get into the HEAR scheme. While I realise that his points could be enhanced by about 10% depending on course etc I don't understand this figure of 979. Can you help me? Thanks

I would advise you to email CAO and quote the students application number.

  • 17:52

Really helpful service - thank you so much!

You're very welcome. Here all day tomorrow too.

  • 17:54

Hi, I got 2 offers; 1 Level 7 and 1 Level 8. I accepted Level 8 but made wrong decision. I would like the Level 7. Can I do anything after declined Level 7 course?

I don't think that this decision can be reversed. I would advise you to contact CAO via email immediately. Be sure to quote your CAO application number.

  • 17:54

My family and I fly out on holiday tomorrow night and, unfortunately, I went to the school today to get the recheck form and fill it in and pay at the bank, when the school tells me they will not have the forms until next Wednesday. Can I not print the form off online?

Yes you can pay online and print off the appeal form provided.   This is done at www.examinations.ie

  • 17:57

Hi, I just barely got enough points for my first choice (305) but got offered my third choice even though it's 360 points! How did this happen? I really really wanted my first or second choice.

Are you a DARE, HEAR or Access candidate? Maybe your first and second choice of colleges are not part of the HEAR/DARE/Access scheme. I need more details in order to help you more. We are here all day tomorrow.

  • 17:58

Hi, I got 530 and wanted Law in Trinity and havent received a place on random selection with the points listed today at 530*. I was offered B&L in UCD today. Just wondering what the likelihood is of second round points movement as regards Law? Thanks

I got 435 points, some of my courses had points as low as 280. I received no offers. I contacted the CAO and they say they have no Leaving Cert results on file for me. What happens next?

There may have been a mismatch in relation to your application and your results.   I would send a copy of your results to the CAO and make sure you use the name that is on your birth certificate. Hopefully the CAO will be able to match your application to your results and you may get any offer you are entitled to in round two.   Keep channels of communication open with the CAO on this.

  • 17:59

Thank you for such an amazing helpful service, Its truly a relief to be able to get support like this at such a stressful time.
All of you deserve a pay rise and a bottle of wine!

Thank you. We are here all day tomorrow.

I got 400 points with an A in economics. Thought I was fine for DIT economics and finance but points up to 410. Do you think I might get an offer for this course in round two or have have I any other options.

I would advise you to speak with someone from admissions and the Economics and Finance department. Enquire about doing a Level 6 that may allow you progress into the Economic and Finance degree.

The answer to points in round two is answered below.

    Good luck.

I have been locked out of my CAO account so can't accept my offer, what do I do?

Email CAO. Give them your name, address and DOB. They may ask you for other information. Once they are satisfied that it is you they will send you your details. Be sure to get this sorted so that you do not miss the closing date of acceptance.

My son has 465 points and has accepted science NUIG his choice above this is Earth science in Trinity at 475 what are the chances of points reducing?

Ten points can be a big gap to bridge at this level so it could be a long shot.   Unfortunately there is no way of knowing for definite  if there are going to be any other offers for this course or indeed what points reduction may appear. It is in the hands of those who are holding offers at the moment and whether they all accept them or not. We will only find out in round two.
