14:32It's All-Ireland final day and if anything can match yesterday for entertainment it's Dublin versus Kerry at Headquarters. Carl O'Malley here, we're an hour away from throw-in.
At the moment there's a stunning minor final taking place at Croker. We'll have a match report shortly but as I type, Tipp lead Dublin by two points after a fantastic goal by substitute Colman Kennedy, with two minutes left. -
14:35Tipperary have won the Minor title after a smashing second half perfomance. Kennedy chipped in with 1-2 after coming on at the break, but Dublin goalkeeper Ross O'Hanlon will rue the part he played in the goal that broke Dublin hearts.
-
14:36More to follow on that in a moment.
-
15:05Ahem, any minute now. In the meantime, Colm O'Rourke reckons the Irish rugby team are the most focused sportsmen around at the moment. Pat Spilane praises them for not playing to stop the Aussies but going at them instead.
Eh, sorry Pat, but that's exactly what they did. No harm in it, like, but that's what they did. -
15:07Joe Brolly responds: 'That's very simplistic, Pat'.
Spillane, looking every bit like Wurzel Gummidge in his pomp, dismisses the young upstart with a wave of his hand and not even a glance in his direction.
Still got it.
-
15:08
-
15:10The teams are out. There follows a debate on whether it means more to a player to represent Kerry than, say, Derry. Needless to say, Brolly's having none of it. Quite right too.
-
15:12Please do get in touch with your thoughts, predictions, conspiracy theories...via the comment box or hit me up on that there Twitter @carlomalley.
-
15:16The panel are discussing Kerry's handpassing. I have an issue with these lads on this, so I might as well get it off my chest. Here it is, it's pretty simple, really.
What in God's name is wrong with handpassing?
Answer me that.
Spillane is just short of calling for handpassers to be made wear bells around their necks, despite the fact that some of the nicest moves you'll see in football is a well constructed handpassed counter-attack. -
15:20
-
15:21Memory Lane. A good one for the Dubs from the 1977 semi-final.
-
15:22
-
15:23And to redress the balance.
-
15:25Gilroy animated on the sideline, shouting a few last-minute instructions as the sides head off behind the Artane Boys Band. Jack O'Connor's just prowling around, seemingly staring at random stuff from under his baseball cap like Clint Eastwood in In the Line of Fire.
-
15:30All that's left is anthem. There it is. Dubs won the toss and here we go.
-
15:311 min: MacAuley claims it from Anthony Maher and it makes it to Paul Flynn who tries to find Alan Brogan. It's out for a goalkick to Kerry.
-
15:322 min: Brosnan wins the kickout, down to Donncha Walsh on the left, then Darran O'Sullivan, who finds Declan to fist if over the bar. First blood Kerry.
-
15:32Dubs down under COME ON BOYS!!!!!!!
-
15:344 min: Cian O'Sullivan puts in a good challenge on Brosnan, Connolly denied by Brendan Kealy, just under his crossbar.
-
15:355 min: Lively start from both teams. James McCarthy makes ground on the right but his handpass is cut out. Dubs restart but Brogan's shot from the right is well wide.
-
15:36Bryan Sheehan follows suit at the other end after being found in space by Darran O'Sullivan. Donaghy is operating in the middle by the way. Not offering a traget up front.
-
15:377 min: Tom O'Sullivan nips in ahead of Connolly to claim McCarthy's ball after Ger Brennan finds the latter with room to spare.
-
15:39Cooper and Darran O'Sullivan look dangerous there but Rory O'Carroll and co force Walsh to lose the ball over the deadball line with some good defending.
-
15:4010 min: More possession for Kerry at the moment, but Dubs keeping their shape well and chances are at a premium. It's a free in for Dublin now. Cluxton steps up.
-
15:41It's wide, from way over on the right handside. Just pushed it past the far post.
-
15:42Dub 0-1 Kerry 0-1: Alan Brogan loses Cillian Young and fires overs a sweet strike with his right boot. Good point. Paul Flynn getting a talking after a foul on Donaghy.
-
15:43Oh, it's a yellow for the Dub. Sheehan takes the free and just misses Darran O'Sullivan down the left-hand channel. Close shave there because O'Sullivan was away had he caught that.
-
15:4313 min: Kevin Nolan's run down the left is good but his ball inside only finds Tom O'Sullivan.
-
15:45Good defence again from Dublin as they make Kerry work hard for chances, but it's the same at the other end.
-
15:45Dub 0-02 Kerry 0-1: That is until Alan Brogan kicks his second after Killian Young expects a free but doesn't get it.
-
15:46Dublin's Nolan is on the deck after being caught in the face by Declan O'Sullivan. Accidental they say.
-
15:47Into the 17th minute now and he's still down. Looks a wee bit shook, and the free is with Tomás O'Se. Accidental, remember.
-
15:48Scrappy stuff from Kerry as Maher's ball goes over the deadball as he looks for Donaghy, who seems to have moved to corner forward.
-
15:49GOAL 19th min!!!! Blistering run through the middle by Darran O'Sullivan and he fed the Gooch, who else, who fires past Cluxton for his 18th champioship goal.
-
15:50Beautiful finish from Cooper on his left foot. Dublin fightback but Bastick drops his effort short and into the arms of Kealy.
-
15:52Paul Galvin coming on for the Kingdom. Still only two scores for either side and we're 21 minutes in. Macauley does well to clear danger and he finds Barry Cahill with a great ball.
-
15:52O'Mahony takes him down as he bursts through the middle. Free for Bernard Brogan as O'Mahony is shown a yellow.
-
15:53Brogan points an easy chance.
-
15:54A bit of a scuffle down the other end betweent Declan O'Sullivan and Rory O'Carroll. It seems O'Sullivan went to talk with manager O'Connor and O'Carroll went with him. Whatever happened, after consultation wtih his umpires the referee shows O'Carroll the yellow.
-
15:5525 min: Galvin on the pitch for Kieran O'Leary
-
15:56GOAL denied by Kealy. A wonderul save after A Brogan shows a cool head and cuts inside his man but Kealy gets a strong hand to it. Connolly then gets forward but drops his effort short as well.
-
15:5727 min: And at the other end, Cian O'Sullivan blocks Donaghy's effort with a timely tackle. Excellent stuff from the young defender.
-
15:58Free in for Dublin after a foul on Paul Flynn. It's a long one for Cluxton but more central than the last.
-
15:58The teams are level as Cluxton makes no mistake. His 11th point of the championship
-
15:59Dub 0-5 Kerry 1-1: Macauley again getting the better of the midfield battle and Dublin lead after B Brogan fires over a fine point from the left. Bad pass from galvin there.
-
16:01The Dubs getting a foothold now. (Obviously, they're in the lead). They have responded well after that goal, which was 12 minutes ago now.
-
16:02Another free in after Connolly is taken down by Galvin. not a great contribution from him since his arrival on the pitch.
-
16:0232 min: Dubs lead by two 0-06 to 1-1.
-
16:02Dubs winning the ball in midfield now. Kerry need to calm it down, which they try to do.
-
16:03Cian O'Sullivan concedes a free and Kerry have a shot at the posts from just outside the 45. Sheehan steps up
-
16:04Dub 0-06 Kerry 1-02: It drops short but Copper gathers, back to Darran O'Sullivan and then Galvin, who points.
-
16:0535 min: Galvin penalised again, perhaps harshly, but B Brogan puts it wide from a promising position.
-
16:05Six wides for Dublin, four for Kerry.
-
16:06Anthony Maher taken down by James McCarthy on the right handside. Another shot at the posts, this time for Cooper.
-
16:07Nope. he's put it wide. Missed it on the near side. Unlike the Gooch, that.
-
16:08That's the last kick of the half. Not exactly a thrilling encounter but an interesting battle and still anyone's game.
-
16:12Analysis: "Brilliant first 20 minutes and there was no scores in it," says Colm. Dublin's half forwards are doing "phenomenal work".
-
16:13Pat wouldn't "go that far", but it was "enjoyable".
"They (Kerry) are playing second fiddle to this Dublin team." -
16:17Joe - "Dublin are breaking at immense pace".
In general, they all agree the Dubs are on top and Jack has the thinking to do at the break. I agree with that.
That said, Gooch is still a danger, while the replay of O'Sullivan's block on Donaghy proves just how close Kerry came to a second goal. That could turn out to be a big moment in this game. In fact, if Dublin win it most probably will. -
16:22Of course, the same could be said for Kealy's save from Brogan, who took way too long picking his shot in an unusual display of indecision. Jayo's on the sideline having his say. You can barely see him under those headphones. He reckons it's Dublin's to lose.
-
16:24Spillane says he thinks the dubs will keep dominating the tempo unless Donaghy and Copper can impose themselves more.
Brolly described Kerry's early play as 'blitzkrieg'. Never one for hyperbole, Joe. -
16:25We're back. Dubs were eager and out first. Kerry forced on to the back foot immediately.
-
16:2637 min: O Sé seeks a high ball for Donaghy but 'Star' is beaten to it and Dublin clear.
-
16:27Fitzsimons this time clears the danger for Dublin. Macauley and Bastick take control and the former bursts towards the box and he is rugby tackled by Sheehan just outside. Free in.
-
16:28It's over from Bernard B and Sheehan got a yellow card for that cynical take down, JUST outside the rectangle.
-
16:29Dub 0-08 Kerry 1-02: More great work from Bastick and he links up with Brogan to boot over from close range.
-
16:30Kerry register their sixth wide through Declan O'Sullivan after he was put under pressure. Kerry look a lot less lively than the Dubs. They'll have to change something soon.
-
16:3142 min: That's a start. Darran O'Sullivan burst down the left and Sheehan is fouled as he goes to collect the ball after it goes to ground. He points the free. Their first score from deadballs.
-
16:3243 min: And another from Donaghy as he claims the high ball and ignores the goal opportunity to fist it over. Kerry on the way back now!!
-
16:33Ger Brennan hammers Declan O'Sullivan as the latter runs through. That was a heavy hit and he's lucky to see only yellow
-
16:33Irish in Croatia Please keep the score updated at the bottom, it still reads Dub 0-2 Kerry 1-1
-
16:34Apologies, we obviously have issues with the scoreboard, if that's the case. Because it is being updated.
-
16:35Dub 0-8 Kerry 1-5: All square as Cooper points the free in the 49th min.
-
16:35Philly McMahon on for Dublin's James McCarthy, who is injured.
-
16:35Carey from Kerry Current scores here in Chicago. Go Kerry!
-
16:36Irish in Croatia Thanks, I refreshed the page all sorted, great stuff, you are ahead of rte radio 1 by about 3 mins! Thanks guys!!!
-
16:38Macauley wins a free in the middle of the park. Cahill drops one in and it finds it way to B Brogan in front of Killian Young. He tries to drop it over the bar off his left but it just misses the far side of the net and goes wide.
-
16:3850 min: Kerry targetting Donaghy to set up Cooper. At the moment Dublin are just about winning that battle.
-
16:40Dub 0-08 Kerry 1-06: 51 min: Sheehan puts Kerry into the lead after showing patience, turning left and right and picking his score with his left boot. Good score and a big one too.
-
16:40Guest In hotel in essaoira, morocco, dublin jersey on but no live coverage, more details please, whatever you see, say it: thanks: johnny
-
16:41Kerry have bounced back well from a slow start but Dublin fightback through McManamon, who has Cahill in the middle all alone but can't find him.
-
16:42Eventually he gets it across but it's too late and Kerry defence scrambles. Free in after it was handled on the ground. Not sure where though. Brogan points. All square
-
16:43Kerry 45 after O'Carroll defends well, Donaghy then knocks him over. Handbags really, but he'll have to be careful.
Kerry back into the lead thanks to Sheehan's 45. -
16:43Guest Johnny and Dave ın Kas Turkey* sıttıng at the bar on borrowed laptop* Dub and bıtter Meath Man* UP the DUBS!!!
-
16:4455 min: One point in it and Kerry come again but the Dubs are diligent in defence and then reckless as McManamon takes down O'Sullivan (Darran).
-
16:45Sheehan steps up again and points his fourth. Kerry lead by two. 1-08 to 0-09
-
16:45Eoin O'Gara coming on for Barry Cahill.
-
16:46Macauley slides in on Darran O'Sullivan (he must be battered) and it's another free in. Worrying times for Dubs.
-
16:4712 minutes left and Sheehan to shoot from 50 metres.
-
16:47Stopped by Cluxton right under his crossbar. Tricky catch, dealt with well.
-
16:48Dublin break but another shot is dropped in Kealy's arms.
-
16:49Galvin inexplicably gives the ball away and Dublin can break, but they lose it and again Darran O'Sullivan is taken down, this time by Cian O'Sullivan. Dublin losing their composure here.
-
16:50Cian O'Sullivan carded. Cooper to take.
-
16:50Three-point lead for the Kingdom. The Gooch don't miss those.
-
16:50Another free for Kerry, not in range though.
-
16:5162 minutes gone now
-
16:51Fitzsimons's shot brushes past Cluxton's left-hand upright. Eamonn Fennell is on for Dublin's Denis Bastick.
-
16:52Four-point lead for Kerry as Cooper gets free, throws a dummy and points another. Daniel Bohan on for Kerry's Eoin Brosnan.
-
16:53GOAL DUBLIN
-
16:54McManamon takes a pass from Alan Brogan after a great break and he picks his spot past Kealy. One-point game!!!
