  • Good afternoon!

While Scotland were many people's dark horses for the Six Nations, it seemed unlikely that this afternoon's clash with England at Twickenham would prove so pivotal in deciding the destination of the Championship title.

Vern Cotter's side have already beaten Ireland and Wales, and if they can beat England at Twickenham for the first time since 1983 they will seal an improbable Triple Crown.

Victory for England meanwhile will see them equal New Zealand's record of 18 Test match wins on the bounce - as well as secure the Six Nations title.

So, there's a fair bit on the line. We'll be bringing you all the action from Twickenham.

    Come on!!!

  • Last night's defeat to Wales all but ended Ireland's championship hopes - but mathematically they're not quite out of it.

A draw here today, or a Scotland win, and Joe Schmidt's side can still lift the title - although it would require some miraculous results on the last weekend.

  • The teams are out at Twickenham.
  • There's a children's choir helping with the anthems and making it sound like the players have been inhaling helium.
  • Right then, here we go.

Russell has the ball in hand, and we're off!

  • 1 min: Itoje fields the kick off well and Youngs clears past halfway.
  • 2 min: Scotland get good lineout ball and Russell tries one of his trademark dinks over the top but Nowell reads it. England move it right and Itoje is in space on the right and crashes into Russell. Daly got absolutely monstered by Brown as he released the ball for Itoje, and replays show he was lifted and dumped.

    Yellow card for Brown!

  • TRY ENGLAND!!!
  • Disastrous start for Scotland. England move it off the top from the 10 and Dunbar falls off the dangerous Joesph who sears through the gap and over the line.

    Farrell converts.

    3 MIN: ENGLAND 7 SCOTLAND 0

  • 4 min: It's all England at the moment, Youngs kicks and Nowell leaps the highest to tap it back for a white shirt. England moving it wide looking to stretch Scotland and Nowell breaks into the 22 on the right. Scotland on the rack and England have a penalty coming, Farrell will go for goal.

And he slots it from inside the 10 on the left.

    7 MIN: ENGLAND 10 SCOTLAND 0

  • 8 min: High tackle and Russell fails to find touch with the penalty. Sloppy.
  • 9 min: Kicks are exchanged before England look to run it and Hogg rips the ball brilliantly off Lawes. Russell then kicks in behind and Nowell is pressed into skewing his kick into touch inside his own 22. Good chance for Scotland.
  • 10 min: With no hooker on the field number eight Wilson throws in at the lineout and hits his man. Scotland move it infield, keeping it in the tight. They are patient before they get a bit of width and Russell brings Hogg into the game, darting in from the right. Scotland building the phases.
  • 11 min: Eventually the ball comes back to Russell in the pocket but Price's pass is poor and his dropgoal effort is charged down. Watson seizes on it though and Scotland continue to press until Jones tries to kick through and concedes possession.
  • 13 min: Joseph is looking very dangeorus on his return to action and he makes another break before being hauled down by Jones. Watson then gets done for spoiling and Farrell can extend England's lead.

Easy kick from the edge of the 22, nails it.

    14 MIN: ENGLAND 13 SCOTLAND 0

  • Scotland back to 15 men, but Daly is off with Anthony Watson replacing him.
  • 16 min: Scotland get good lineout ball on the right and Russell throws a sharp flat pass which is nearly intercepted but leads to half a break instead. Scotland looking to build until it goes forward when Russell is tackled by Launchbury. England very solid defensively. Hogg is off for a HIA.
  • 18 min: The Scottish scrum has been a weakness all Championship and they concede a penalty under big pressure from England.
  • 19 min: Hartley's lineout throw on halfway was obviouskly crooked but England get away with it. They move the ball left and Dunbar pounces on a loose ball but there's a knock on and England are awarded a scrum.
  • 20 min: Strong English scrum and then they kick it, Bennett - replacement for Hogg - covering and nearly getting himself into trouble as he looks to run it. The Scots retain it though and Russell tries an ambitous looped ball to Watson which is very nearly intercepted by Joseph. Not very clever.

And now Bennett is down injured, this has been a poor 20 minutes for the visitors, who need something before it gets terminal.

  • 20 MINUTES: ENGLAND 13 SCOTLAND 0
  • This game is taking ages. Bennett is being carted off on a stretcher.
  • 21 min: Scotland win their scrum but they're under serious pressure and Russell can only clear as far as Brown inside the Scottish 10. He runs it back but Hughes spills it forward at the base and Scotland have a scrum on their 22.

Replays show there was a neck roll from Hartley (shock) so Scotland have a penalty which is kicked up to halfway.

Hogg has failed his HIA, disaster for Scotland.

  • 23 min: Nowell has the ball in space on the right and hoofs a kick forward. Seymour has to play the ball and can only clear to inside the Scottish 10, good territory for England.
  • TRY ENGLAND!!!
  • Game over. Good lineout ball for England and Scotland are a mess in defence, it's moved for Joseph who runs a brilliant line and steps before cruising over. Great score.

    Farrell converts.

    25 MIN: ENGLAND 20 SCOTLAND 0

  • 26 min: Scottish lineout and they have possession just outside the England 22. They keep it tight and they're getting yards, albeit off slow ball. Lawes is then penalised for not releasing, and Russell sticks the kick in the corner.
  • TRY SCOTLAND!!!!!
  • How Scotland needed that. They set the maul and then peel off, Dunbar crashing into Ford. Scotland keep up the pressure and Reid picks and squirms his way over the line.

Russell converts. Maybe it's not game over after all...

    30 MIN: ENGLAND 20 SCOTLAND 7

  • 31 min: Jonny Gray caught offside from an England lineout, penalty for the hosts.

Farrell will go for goal from the left, and once again he slots it.

    32 MIN: ENGLAND 23 SCOTLAND 7

  • 33 min: Russell tests Brown with a hanging kick but the England fullback fields it well. Youngs then sends a high one of his own which Itoje claims before Scotland are penalised for pouring in off their feet.
  • TRY ENGLAND!!!!
  • Ruthless. Good lineout ball for England, Farrell delays and slips a lovely ball to Joseph who is through again and he draws his man before feeding Watson who storms over.

    Farrell converts.

    36 MIN: ENGLAND 30 SCOTLAND 7

  • 39 min: Farrell tries to turn Scotland around but his kick is too long and dribbles dead.
  • 40 min: Penalty on halfway, Farrell will go for goal to try and add insult to injury - just pulls it.
  • HT: ENGLAND 30 SCOTLAND 7
  • The teams are back out at Twickenham. England 40 minutes away from the title.

    We're back underway.

  • 41 min: England go close straight away, Hughes sees a gap at the fringe of a ruck and picks and goes, finding Ford whose offload is picked off by Russell. He looks to have been dragged down ingoal by Haskell but does well to get back in play.
  • TRY ENGLAND!!!
  • Patient and incisive build-up from England. They get quick ball in the shadow of the posts and recycle to Joseph who darts through for the easiest of his hat-trick of tries.

    Easy conversion for Farrell.

    43 MIN: ENGLAND 37 SCOTLAND 7

  • 44 min: Seymour kicks ahead and gets snotted late by Hughes. The referee checks with the TMO - it was late, but not malicious. Just a penalty for Scotland.
  • 45 min: Good kick into the corner from Russell and this is a good platform for Scotland but they can't win their ball and England break through Hughes and then move it wide to Brown who gets his side up past the halfway. Jonny Gray is then penalised on the deck and Farrell will look to add another three.

Farrell's penalty just creeps inside the right post, Scotland are in disarray.

    46 MIN: ENGLAND 40 SCOTLAND 7

  • 47 min: Scottish restart goes out on the full.
  • 48 min: A better Scottish scrummage yields a penalty, Russell kicks to the 22.
  • 48 min: Good lineout ball and Richie Gray makes a powerful carry. Scotland up to the five and making ground as they keep it in the tight. Russell tries to dance his way through traffic.
  • TRY SCOTLAND!!!!
  • Patient and controlled build-up from Scotland and Jones bounces off Joseph before reaching over to score.

Great conversion from Russell from a narrow angle.

    51 MIN: ENGLAND 40 SCOTLAND 14

  • Billy Vunipola on for England. Not who you want to see coming off the bench if you're a Scottish player.
  • 54 min: More scrum pressure from England and this time Farrell kicks for the corner.
  • 55 min: Controlled maul form England and Vunipola has his hands on it at the base. Scotland do well to slow it down and win a penalty - but some over-zealous celebrating from captain Barclay sees the penalty overturned. Doh.
  • TRY ENGLAND!!!
  • George hits Itoje and England set another maul and Launchbury and Vunipola burst through the middle for the number eight to score on his return.

Farrell makes no mistake with the conversion.

    58 MIN: ENGLAND 47 SCOTLAND 14

  • This is England's biggest ever score in the Calcutta Cup, and it was supposed to be close.
  • 60 min: Scotland have the ball in the middle of the park but England's linespeed is good and they're going nowhere. Eventually they kick and the covering Brown finds a good touch.
  • 63 min: England trying to build from deep but it's getting scrappy and Vunipola spills it forward.
  • 65 min: Good play from Scotland and Jones releases Visser on the left and he gets to open his legs for the first time, but he offloads more in hope than expectation and Ford picks it off.
  • 67 min: There's a missed tackle and Visser makes another break but he's well tackled by Brown and Scotland can't capitalise.
  • TRY SCOTLAND!!!!
  • Visser involved again and he takes a pass from Russell and gets on the outside shoulder and is held up just inside the five. Scotland then use the space out left and neat hands gets it to Jones on the wing and he cuts back inside, showing great strength to force his way over.

    Russell converts.

    70 MIN: ENGLAND 47 SCOTLAND 21

  • TRY ENGLAND!!!
  • Scotland make a hash of defending the restart and England have a five metre lineout. They maul and then when it's moved Care snipes over to score.

    Farrell converts.

    72 MIN: ENGLAND 54 SCOTLAND 21

  • 73 min: Russell gets snotted by Itoje and the ball goes loose, England pile in and win a penalty on halfway which Farrell sends to touch on the right.
  • 75 mins: England use the hands, through Te'o and to Watson but he can't provide the finish and is shunted into touch.
  • 76 min: England are relentless and dogged work from Launchbury wins them a scrum on the Scottish five metre.
  • 78 min: Ford switches the point of attack with a crossfield kick to Nowell but Weir defends it well. England had a penalty coming though and opt for another five metre scrum.
  • 79 min: The frontrows pop up, another scrum.
  • 80 min: Vunipola picks and it takes four Scots to hold him up. England piling in under the posts and smelling blood. Eventually they move it wide but the pass to Nowell is behind him and Scotland cover across. And then Ford's pass to Brown is loose but he carries well back up to the five.
  • TRY ENGLAND!!!
  • England finish things in style, keeping the ball alive until Mako Vunipola carries then pops to Care who cruises over for his second.

    Farrell converts.

    80 MIN: ENGLAND 61 SCOTLAND 21

  • FT: ENGLAND 61 SCOTLAND 21

ENGLAND RETAIN THE SIX NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP

  • So England are champions again. And on balance that's fair enough, best team in the tournament by a mile.
  • Right, thanks for joining again today.

    One last hurrah next weekend.

    See you then.
