  • Good afternoon!

The All-Ireland SFC qualifiers have been put to bed and today things start to get very serious.

Eight counties remain in the hunt to lift Sam - and by close of play we will know the identity of the first two sides to reach the semi-finals.

The West's awake, and later this afternoon Connacht champions Roscommon look to upset the odds against neighbours Mayo.

But first up, Galway - fresh from their rout of Donegal last time out - take on a Kerry side looking to crash the western party.

We'll be bringing you all the action from Croke Park - so get settled and enjoy the first heavyweight Sunday of the footballing summer.

    Come on!!!

  • David Walsh comes in for Cathal Sweeney for Galway, and he has the unenviable task of marking Kieran Donaghy.
  • The teams are out in Croke Park, which is basking in sunshine - for now.
  • A win for Galway today would represent their first over Kerry in the championship since the 1965 All-Ireland final.
  • Right then, here we go.

The ball is in the air, we're underway!

  • 1 min: Early deep possession for Galway. Patient build-up and the ball is played inside for Johnny Heaney who drills the first wide of the game. Kerry respond with a fluid move which is ended with a nice Paul Murphy point. Galway 0-0 Kerry 0-1
  • 3 min: Galway sitting very deep in defence in the opening stages, inviting Kerry to run at them. CLOSE! Great ball from Michael Daly to Ian Burke and his shot is tipped over the bar by Brian Kelly! Galway 0-1 Kerry 0-1
  • 5 min: The ball is played to Kieran Donaghy in space on the right and he turns inside and out before getting pinged for over-carrying. Small psychological victory for Galway who put him under sufficient pressure. Galway 0-1 Kerry 0-1
  • 7 min: A good ball into Damien Comer but he slips at the vital moment and Kerry win possession back. Fairly cagey start, both sides sussing each other out. Johnny Buckley ends the dry-spell with a classy point off his left. Galway 0-1 Kerry 0-2
  • 9 min: Nice point from Paul Geaney, jinking onto his right and slotting from a tight angle with help from the post. Galway 0-1 Kerry 0-3
  • 11 min: Brilliant strength from Sean Armstrong and he slots with his left. An instant and brilliant response from Kerry and Geaney, however, who knocks over a magestic point from the left touchline. Galway 0-2 Kerry 0-4
  • GOAL KERRY!!!!
  • 13 min: That's a stunner. Long ball into that man Donaghy, who takes it well above his man and then muscles his way inside onto his left and drills the ball into the top right corner. Great goal. Up the other end, Galway get a point back through Burke. Galway 0-3 Kerry 1-4
  • 15 min: Another good ball into Donaghy who claims it and fists over the bar. Galway struggling to shackle the big number 14. Galway 0-3 Kerry 1-5
  • 16 min: Walsh reduces the deficit with a free from the right. Galway 0-4 Kerry 1-5
  • 19 min: A lovely turn of foot from Michael Daly, he injects a bit of pace into proceedings and finishes a fine run with a well taken point. Kerry's lead down to three. Galway 0-5 Kerry 1-5
  • 20 min: Much better spell for Galway - Armstrong tries his luck from a narrow angle but it's wide. Donaghy is causing carnage in the air though, and Galway are lucky to escape with a free out after he makes another athletic take above David Walsh. Galway 0-5 Kerry 1-5
  • 23 min: Paul Geaney makes a hash of a free from the 45, that should have been routine. Galway 0-5 Kerry 1-5
  • 26 min: Good ball into Shane Walsh but the Galway man slips - he gets three bites of the cherry but sees one effort blocked and eventually puts another wide. Another booming take from Donaghy up the other end and he earns a free which James O'Donoghue duly converts. Galway 0-5 Kerry 1-6
  • 28 min: Good play from Bradshaw and he wins a free, which Sean Armstrong pulls wide. Galway 0-5 Kerry 1-6
  • 29 min: Excellent play from Geaney, he has three defenders around him but sells them all and knocks it over with his right. Galway 0-5 Kerry 1-7
  • 30 min: Patient Kerry build-up and David Moran nails a good point from distance. Kerry starting to get away from Galway now. Galway 0-5 Kerry 1-8
  • 32 min: Johnny Buckley has the ball in a pocket of space and strokes one just over the bar. Galway need to get somehting before half time - and they claw that point back through Armstrong. Galway 0-6 Kerry 1-9
  • 34 min: Yellow card for Shane Enright after he absolutely snots Johnny Heaney late. Galway 0-6 Kerry 1-9
  • 36 min: Galway nearly sneak one before the break - Comer makes a bullocking run from deep and drills a low effort which Fionn Fitzgerald clears off the line. Galway do salvage a point through Burke. Good little rally from the Tribesmen and Burke notches another point. Galway 0-8 Kerry 1-9
  • 39 min: We've played over the three minutes of stoppage time and Donnchadh Walsh extends Kerry's lead. Galway 0-8 Kerry 1-10

  • HT: Galway 0-8 Kerry 1-10
  • The teams are back out at Croke Park - there's been a half time deluge but it's cleared up pretty quickly.
  • We're back underway!
  • 36 min: Early ownership of the ball from Kerry and they nearly draw first blood of the half through Johnny Buckley but he drills his effort into the post. There's an opening for Armstrong down the right but he runs out of options and Kerry force him back inside. It nearly falls for Comer at the back post and his low effort is blocked. Galway 0-8 Kerry 1-10
  • Cathal Sweeney on for David Walsh.
  • 40 min: Good surging run from Michael Daly and he is fouled - looks like a penalty but only a free is given. Sean Armstrong knocks it over for the first point of the second half. Galway 0-9 Kerry 1-10
  • 43 min: Galway have been the better side since the break. Bradshaw makes a brilliant run through the middle, splitting Kerry open, and he finds Armstrong whose shot across goal is parried by Brian Kelly. Big chance. Armstrong pulls a free wide moments later, Galway needed a point to show for their efforts there. Galway 0-9 Kerry 1-10
  • 45 min: Galway tails are wagging slightly and Comer is posing Kerry a real threat down the left. Again though Galway can't make it count and Eamonn Brannigan puts his effort wide. Kerry punish Galway through Paul Murphy who darts inside and slots a nice point. Galway 0-9 Kerry 1-11
  • 47 min: Instant response from Galway and new man Brannigan. Galway 0-10 Kerry 1-11
  • 48 min: Kerry nearly land the killer blow. The ball is played across the square to David Moran who fists it goalward but it's tipped over for a point. Galway 0-10 Kerry 1-12
  • 52 min: Great point from Armstrong under serious pressure - does well to get it off his left and over. Galway 0-11 Kerry 1-12
  • 53 min: New man Michael Farragher is played through but skews his chipped effort horribly wide - that was another goal chance. Kerry then rub salt into the wounds with a Jack Savage point. Galway 0-11 Kerry 1-13
  • 55 min: Good play from Peter Crowley and Stephen O'Brien fists it over for a point. Galway 0-11 Kerry 1-14
  • 57 min:  Barry John Keane comes on for Donaghy. He had been quieter since the break but was irrepressible in the opening 35. Galway 0-11 Kerry 1-14
  • 58 min: Stephen O'Brien runs at the heart of the Galway defence and the ball squirts to Paul Geaney who snatches at his shot and slices it well wide. Galway 0-11 Kerry 1-14
  • 61 min: Galway running out of time to real Kerry in - the Kingdom holding them at arm's length and looking comfortable. Galway 0-11 Kerry 1-14
  • 64 min: Point from Paul Geaney - Kerry nearly home and hosed. Galway 0-11 Kerry 1-15
  • 67 min: stunning one-handed take from Comer and he bursts at the Kerry defence and is hauled down by Paul Murphy. Burke slots the free - Galway's first point for 14 minutes. Galway 0-12 Kerry 1-15
  • 68 min: A nice point from Stephen O'Brien, lovely show of pace. Galway 0-12 Kerry 1-16
  • 70 min: Lovely Kerry move is finished by Barry John Keane. Galway have had the life sucked out of them. There'll be six minutes added time. Galway 0-12 Kerry 1-17
  • 73 min: Another point for Barry John Keane. Galway 0-12 Kerry 1-18
  • 74 min: Johnny Heaney with a point for Galway. Galway 0-13 Kerry 1-18
  • FT: Galway 0-13 Kerry 1-18
