So Poulter is playing the USA at their own game. Make noise. Make lots of noise and bring it on. Johnny Watterson here again for full coverage until late.
  • 13:33
A five footer from the Englishman and a fist pump for a birdie three on the first and Poulter looks like he wants to lead from the front.
  • 13:37
There's only one Luke Donald, they are singing. Even the European fans are getting inon the act.. Boos and cheers and Donald steps up on the first and splits the fairway. Keegan Bradley, one of yesterday's heroes veers left but fine.
  • 13:39
Quick have a look now and you can see blue on the leader board with first blood to Poulter and Rose on the first hole.
  • 13:43
Westwood hits to four feet on the first green but Mickelson puts it inside him for a stunning first shot of the round and a gimme
  • 13:44
Donald misses the first putt and the Americans, Bradley and Mickelson go 1 up after one.
  • 13:45
  • 13:46
A let off in the first group with Simpson missing from close to keep Poulter and Rose ahead after 2.
  • 13:48
Big Phil may be all wrapped up for the morning chill but again his iron to the second par 3 is glorious and a birdie chance again beckons. Out of the traps fast this pairing could be two up after 2 very shortly.
  • 13:50
Donald plonks his ball in the water at the second hole and is on the green in 3. The US go 2 up after two in the first group..
  • 13:52
Colsaerts in the third group with Sergio finds the faiway. Dufner, playing with Zach Johnson sails his drive over that of the Belgian. He doesn't see that happening very often.
  • 13:55
Webb Simpson is stone dead at the third and a shot could be coming back to the USA.
  • 14:00
In a heated team meeting last night Olazabal told his troops they didn't show the intensity he was looking for especially in the afternoon ripped through them. He said that they need go birdie hunting today and make ground
  • 14:02
  • 14:03
All square in the matches except Westwood and Donald, who are 2 down. Rory and G-mac yet to tee off.
  • 14:07
G-mac to drive at the first. Hit it left yesterday in the foursomes and just did it again. Bunker left. Furyk sails it down the middle and everyone is off.
  • 14:09
Zach Johnson is four feet from the pin on the par 3 second hole.
  • 14:11
Rose and Poulter all square with Bubba and Simpson thru 4, while Dufner obliges on the second and finishes off Zach's approach to go one up on Sergio and Colsaerts.
  • 14:12
Rory converts G-mac's bunker drive on the first into a birdie chance for his partner.
  • 14:14
Ughhh,,,Snedeker puts his ball inside Rory on the first while Bubba is bashing it out 70 yards further than Poulter. What a crazy advantage for Webb Simpson.
  • 14:19
McDowell misses on the first, Furyk drops his from five feet. Three out of four of the USA team have birdied the first hole and now the Irish pair are down one after one.
  • 14:23
Europe are under the hammer. It seems as if they have just carried on from yesterday afternoon and there goes Sneds almost holing his ball on the second par 3. Golf of a very high order coming from the home team.
  • 14:24
Rory hits it into birdie range for G-mac but still outside Sneds. Europe are now down in all four games.
  • 14:27
G-mac misses another on the second as does Furyk, who pulls it right. Uncharacteristic let off by the Americans for the Irish duo.
  • 14:32
Poulter goes wide right into the crowd on his approach to the sixth with Bubba on the green in the lead group.
  • 14:35
Lee and Luke 2 down after five holes. The funny thing is they are playing well but it is all just to hang in with the rampant US. Uncle Sam remains up in all four matches with lead grouping Bubba and Webb Simpson in a great position on 6 to extend the team lead.
  • 14:39
McDowell misses his third putt in three holes. Magnificent irons from Rory but G-mac not converting the chances and it could count them dearly. Even one of the three putts would have them level after three.
  • 14:41
Sergio chips badly from just off the green and leaves Colsaerts four feet. He misses to leave them 2 down after 4 holes. Sloppy, poor play from the Spaniard and the Belgian.
  • 14:42
1 up, 2up, 2up, 1up for the USA in all four matches. Europe really subdued now and need to energise. Shouldn't Olly be running around like Seve used to do punching his players on the arm?
  • 14:50
Mickelson and Bradley 3 up after six holes as Luke Donald lips out from 8 feet. There's US red everywhere on the scoreboard but the scary thing is Europe appear to be unable to do anything to halt the march. Nothing is dropping or causing the home team anxiety and even with the lead group at the sixth hole a whitewash is looking like a possibility.
  • 14:54
The crowd erupt after Poulter chips a few feet forward to the seventh. Pity it's because his shot is horrible and Rose has to play next from the bunker..
  • 14:58
Mickelson hits it 248 yards with a five wood onto the par 5 7th green. The crowd rise to clap his chutzpah. Is there anything bad the home team can do at the moment - not likely.
  • 15:04
"One side is on fire and the other is struggling," says Butch Harmon pointing to the fresh blood that has come into the American side and thrilled the home crowd. Nothing is impossible seems to be their attitude,
  • 15:06
Bradley and Mickelson 4 up thru 7 holes, while a wayward shot from the fairway from McIlroy lands under the buggy of watching European captain, Olazabal. Even irony is creeping into this session.
  • 15:12
Life is good for Sneds. An eight footer rolls in for him and Furyk to put Rory and G-mac in the rear view window. 2 up thru five holes is nothing desperate but discouraging for the Irish pair.
  • 15:19
Poullter tickles a shot down hill putt to draw level at the turn with Bubba and Webb Simpson. Finally after well over an hour's play Europe has won a hole.
  • 15:25
Furyk finds a 10 footer to go 2 up on G-mac and Rory thru six holes. There's just nothing falling for the Irish pair on the greens but don't give up on them yet as there is still time.
  • 15:29
More fist pumping from Bradley as his putt on the 9th falls and the crowd go nuts. Five holes up on Luke and Westwood and the US dream team keep piling on the pressure. This match could be over aftert three or four more holes.
  • 15:42
Bubba and Simpson under pressure from Rose and Poulter in the lead match and are a hole up, Rose hits to six feet on the 11th to set up a decent birdie chance.
  • 15:46
Luke Donald falls to his knees and Rory looks to the sky as European putts run wide. Donald and Westwood are six down to Mickelson and Simpson and their match is done and dusted thru 11 holes.
  • 15:48
There's a fierce battle going on in the lead group and Poulter's reaction to dropping a five foot put to hold a one hole advantage thru 11 holes was typically defiant. The USA don't have the monopoly on fist pumping and screaming.
  • 15:53
Webb Simpson drills his drive into the woods at 13 while off the leash Mickelson hits a sand wedge into 12 and sets up another birdie chance. His group could go 7 up with 7 to play.
  • 16:05
Bubba is setting up one of those benders around a tree and is clearing the fans away from his curving left to right shot. He doesn't pull it off but Poulter hits wildly from the fairway after a shocker but stays out of the water on the 12th hole. Simpson fluffs a wedge. Nobodt wants to win this hole.
  • 16:06
Sneds and Furyk make the turn one hole up against Rory and G-mac.
  • 16:08
Poulter drains a putt from off the green to make up for his astoundingly poor approach to 12 and they go 2 up over Bubba and Simpson.
  • 16:11
TomCostello Where is Olazabel? More leadership shown from Seve's image on the Europe Bags than from him so far!
  • 16:19
Donald misses his putt on the 13th so it the dog license for Michelson and Simpson, 7&6 and the US lead 6-3 overall.
  • 16:22
Overall Poulter and Rose are 2 up with five to play. Colsaerts drops a putt finally for all square thru 11 in his group and Rory and G-mac remain 1 down thru 10 holes.
  • 16:26
"Making a hole here is like making a hole on a Major on a Sunday," says Keegan Bradley after his round, while his partner Mickelson's 37 matches in the competition catches Billy Casper's Ryder Cup record.

  • 16:30
John Murray If these Europeans don't turn it around in a hurry it will be a long ride back to ..........FLORIDA
  • 16:33
Yes but Europe are now sitting comfortably after the shocking start. Of the three matches remaining the USA are up in one, down in one and the third is all square.
  • 16:37
Rory and G-mac 2 down thru 11 after Furyk drains a mid range putt. Nothing today gob smacking about the Irish performances. They apppear to be chasing all the time to barely keep within touching distance.
  • 16:41
Bubba gets the crowd to their feet with a decent putt to halve the 14th hole but are still 2 down with four to go to Poulter and Rose.
  • 16:51
Rory and G-mac 2 down thru 12 holes and again Rory can't sink a putt to get a foot back in the match. Putting is going to be the story of the Irish pair's round.
  • 16:55
Colsaerts misses tiddler on the 13th to go 2 holes down with Sergio. After holing everything yesterday, its a bad, bad miss and the the bottom two matches are now 2 holes down to the Americans and the top match with Poulter and Rose 2 holes up.
  • 17:02
Rory and G-mac on the 13th green and have not yet made one birdie, which seems incredible given their ability.
  • 17:09
Poulter and Rose are struggling to close it out. Rose fails to make the green on the 16th hole. Poulter then leaves it short from just off the green. They haven't reached the hole in four shots and still need to drop a five footer to halve the hole and stay two up with 2 to play. Rose misses the putt. The match is on knife edge with Europe 1 up and two to play.
  • 17:15
Both European pairings are down 2 thru 13 holes with Poulter and Rose 2 up and sitting nicely on the par 3 17th green - much closer than Bubba's ball. One putt form Rose could clinch the match. It could be a long walk across by the water for the Englishman.
  • 17:21
Rose misses an 8 foot quickie for the match on the 17th. All of a sudden his blade has gone cold. Poulter cleans up and so does Bubba. It goes down the last with Europe knowing they have a half but needing to win it. A half here would definitely feel like a defeat for Europe.
  • 17:25
Rory pitches to gimme distance for birdie number one on hole 14. The Irish pair are still 2 down.
  • 17:28
Bubba hits to four feet on the 18th. As Poulter lines up his approach a loud American voice can be heard 'Don't be scared Poulter.'
  • 17:29
Poulter is 30 feet away from the 18th pin, the USA four feet. The door opens for the USA to halve the match.
  • 17:36
Rose puts the long putt within inches and it means Simpson must make his six footer....did we say four footer earlier.... left to right for the half. He misses and a relieved European pair leave the 18th with the win. USA lead 6-4. A n ugly win but a win.
  • 17:42
  • 17:49
Did Sergio's ball move as he addressed it just before chipping in on the 16th hole? No, okay but Colsaerts' ball definitely just plunged into the water on the 17th in a wild swing of emotions for the European pair.
  • 17:54
The USA have 2 putts to win the third pairing on the par 3 17th hole. It's not a straightforward two putt but has a lot of swing left to right. It very much looks like 7-4 to the USA unless Zach Johnson can really fluff the effort. No, no, no it's good and Europe concede the match.
  • 17:58
Rory drops a putt begorrah. So the Irish pair are 1 down thru 16 holes and the par 3 17th over water next up. Dry land please G-mac. And it's wonderful. Very good putting chance for Rory to draw the match level as Furyk hits the green too but much further away.
  • 18:03
USA miss the difficult putt. Rory lines it up from 8 feet but it tuns left at the very last moment. The USA have been up for the entire match. The match can be halved down the 18th but Europe cannot win now.
  • 18:08
First blood to Europe as Sneds finds the sand to the left and Rory tonks his ball far down the middle of the 18th. Interesting.
  • 18:14
Shocking second shot from G-mac to the 18th. He misses the green with a short iron after a great drive from Rory. It's going to be 8-4 going into the afternoon fourballs unless Rory can pull out a miracle putt.
  • 18:19
So the US win it on the 18th for 8-4, just Rose and Poulter winning their matches. On to the fourballs.
  • 18:21
"We just parred our way around the golf course and it just wasn't enough," said Rory
"We're cold on the greens and made nothing," said McDowell. That about sums it up.
  • 18:29
Look we don't need to be Butch Harmon to know that Europe are in a deep hole here. It was serious yesterday and now its deep. Europe needs a 3-1 win in the fourballs but who is going to do it except Poulter. McIlroy, who the team would have looked to for birdies, hit the first this morning at the 14th hole.
  • 18:32
Monty says everyone has to score a 66 if E
  • 18:35
Johnny has just took a trip to the concession stands after the morning foursomes, although he could be excused for heading straight to the bar. It's Emmet Riordan here and I'll take you through the early stages of the afternoon fourballs.
  • 18:36
And the first groups are on the first tee as Nicolas Colsaerts tries to find the form that saw him shoot 10 under yesterday. He's partnered by Paul Lawrie up against Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar.
  • 18:38
Kuchar teeing up first to ley Dustin boom it, but Kuchar has hit his ball left off the tee.
  • 18:41
Up ahead on the green the first match of Webb Simpson and Bubba Watson against Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari share the opening hole in par fours.
  • 18:42
Next up on the tee is Tiger Woods after missing his first session in Ryder Cups. His old partner Steve Stricker is alongside him and they take on Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia.
  • 18:45
The European duo lost 4 and 3 to Mickelson and Bradley in Friday's foursomes, and Donald suffered a hammering at the hands of America's dream team this morning, losing 7 and 6.
  • 18:46
Garcia also has two Ls to his name after a 2 and 1 defeat alongside Colsaerts this morning to Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson.
  • 18:47
Olazabal has put his two trump cards in the final grouping, with Ian Poulter joining world number one Rory McIlroy against Dufner and Zach Johnson.
  • 18:48
David Love is holding all the cards right now, four points ahead and able to rest his unbeaten pairing of Mickelson and Bradley. A great position to be in.
  • 18:51
Something has to give in the next match as between the four players they have yet to gain a point. Sergio to drive first.
  • 18:52
And the Spaniard splits the fairway.
  • 18:53
To cheers of Loooouke, Donald drives into the right rough, only there's no real rough on the course.
  • 18:53
Stricker boom one down the middle and can Tiger keep it in play?
  • 18:54
Scalds a 3-wood down the middle and that's four fine tee shots.
  • 18:54
Paul Lawrie pulls a putt for a win on the first and in terms of momentum, it's an opportunity lost.
  • 18:56
All square after 2 between Rose and Molinari against Simpson and Watson - Rose and Watson with pars on the par-3.
  • 18:59
Colsaerts right over the flag on the second to 8 feet.
  • 18:59
And Garcia leaves it close at the first for a birdie, great approach shot.
  • 19:00
Garcia is inside 4 feet, Donald will be putting first from about 20 feet away.
  • 19:01
And Tiger flies his wedge through the green, obviously too much energy after his Saturday morning lie-in. Stricker on the edge of the green, so advantage Europe on the first.
  • 19:02
Tiger taking a long look at this, but he has to hole it to make a difference.
  • 19:03
It's brilliant from Tiger, who chips to 5 feet.
  • 19:03
Kuchar sinks a long birdie putt on the 2nd and pressure is back on Colsaerts.
  • 19:04
Garcia's birdie has been conceded so Stricker for a half.
  • 19:05
Good effort but it slips left and Garcia puts Europe 1 up.
  • 19:05
And Colsaerts lips out on the 2nd and that's a big turnaround for the US there as they go 1 up after 2 holes.
  • 19:06
Poulter to drive first in the final match, all quiet on the first tee this time.
  • 19:07
Hits left into the crowd and McIlroy steps up.
  • 19:07
And it's gone miles down the fairway, leaving the shortest of wedges in.
  • 19:09
The US duo are both on the fairway in the final groupings.
  • 19:10
Olazabal says his team are underperforming, which is obvious from the scoreboard and an honest assessment from the captain.
  • 19:11
He has paired Poulter with McIroy as the Englishman struggles to make the par 4s in two at Medinah. For the same reason he paired Molinari with Rose in the fourballs.
  • 19:12
Webb Simpson makes a birdie 3 on the 3rd to put the US up 1 against Rose and Molinari.
  • 19:23
Kuchar and Dustin go one up thru 3 holes while Zach and Dufner go one up on McIlroy and Poulter thru one. Not the start Europe were looking for.
  • 19:27
Poulter on the par 3 second miss hits and barely makesover the water and Rory plonks it in the water...not even close.
  • 19:34
Tiger Woods is playing like a Sunday morning hacker still wearing the beer goggles. He's and flying them over the green. Pitching it back and leaving it short. A voice from the crowd: "Come on Tiger you're our 13th man." So it has come to this even with the home support.
  • 19:36
Was that a little 3 footer that bounced off the lip and swung out for bogey for Poulter. Yes it was and it followed Rory's bogey to go two down thru 2 holes. It's deja vu all over again.
  • 19:42
That's not booing. They are going Kuuuuuch as Kuchar holes another and Colsaerts slips it bye to the left to go down 2 holes thru 4. George Bush, the former president has arrived to support his team ...goddam
  • 19:48
Woods and Stricker are two down thru 3 holes. Stricker has hit close to the fourth pin, maybe because he knows he's on his own. Tiger is fighting his demons and they are not European.
  • 19:49
Watson and Simpson 1 up thru five as the USA make all the putss they need to to keep the matches under control.
  • 19:56
Tiger is accused of gamesmanship on tv. He holds up everything to chip in from 80 yards thru the crowd. No matter Sergio sinks his putt to go three up, The other three matches are down.
  • 20:02
Rory hits to sic feet on the 4th hole. Needs to drain it and get an early hole back from Dufner and Zach. Currently they are 2 down.
  • 20:09
Finally a small turn for Europe when Poulter drops a speedy putt on the 4th hole to haul back to one down.
  • 20:13
The USA are up in three matches and down by 3 holes in one, Stricker and Woods not keeping up.
  • 20:13
  • 20:14
Stricker eagles the par 5 fifth to pull one shot back on Garcia and Donald.
  • 20:18
Tiger on the 6th tee follows Stricker into the trees,
  • 20:23
A lot of shots going big for the field including McIlroy with his 6 iron on the fifth that just falls off the back. The USA keep their noses in front and are 1 up thru 6 in the first match, 2 up thru 4 in the second match and 1 up thru 4 in the fourth match.
  • 20:28
Monty says Europe needs to win 3-1 at least in the fourballs if not 4-0. That's a big ask given they are chasing in three matches.
  • 20:33
Tiger was dropped for the first time this morning in his Ryder Cup career but he hasn't recovered with the morning's rest and can't do anything which appears to put Stricker under pressure too.
  • 20:36
Donald and Garcia a beacon of hope for Europe at 2 up thru 6 holes.
  • 20:37
Rose stitches his iron to the pin on the par 4, 8th hole. Needs this one to pull a hole back from Simpson and Bubba, who are 2 up.
  • 20:40
Rory is 353 yards off the tee. Imagine if he caught it out of the middle!!. He has a wedge to the pin on the sixth,
  • 20:42
Simpson putts well to deny Rose the 8th hole. American putting is relentless and you wonder if Europe are not being worn down by it.
  • 20:47
Cardinal sin on the 8th following a birdie on the seventh for Lawrie as he pulls into the bunker. A boozy local crowd beginning to turn up the volume.
  • 20:58
Watson and Simpson 2 up thru 9 on Rose and Molinari. No panic just yet but perhaps someone would take the lead for Europe and start to show that they are not out there to achieve an honorable defeat.
  • 21:16
Simpson and Bubba move to 3 up thru 10 on Rose and Molinari just before Poulter misses a long one in the bottom match. They are just not dropping for Europe, not half enough anyway.
  • 21:18
Stricker puts the early walk on a long fast putt but the hole throws it out and Donald drops hisputt for birdie to go 3 up thru 8 holes and comfortabe.
  • 21:31
Zach Johnson almost holes from 30 feet but lips out on the 8th. Both Poulter and Rory have putts. Poulter leaves his inches short and Rory chased after his before it got half way. No dent in the score as nothing is dropping for Europe.
  • 21:36
Stricker is looking frustrated and down. His round with Tiger isn't working out but they are alone on the US side. Donald is 4 feet away and Tiger is putting from six feet but misses and fails to make par or break 40 for the front nine. Europe go 4 up at the turn in this match.
  • 21:45
Molinari is 4 under thru 11 holes but they are three down in the match to the on fire Simpson and Bubba. Monty said 66 was the target for everyone and now it's looking like in some matches even that won't be enough.
  • 21:49
Rory and Poulter chase Dufner and Zach, two holes behind at the turn.
  • 21:50
  • 21:52
Webb Simpson has a putt for his 5th birdie in a row on the 12th hole. The US Open winner leaves it short much to the relief of Molinari and Rose.
  • 21:54
America stay stubbornly in control as the players go thru nine holes. They are 3 up in the first match, 1 up in the second, 4 down in the third and 2 up in the bottom game where Dufner and Zach lead Poulter and Rory.
  • 22:07
4 down with 6 to play in the first match but nothing is happening for either Rose or Molinari, who continue to try hard bu are making very little happen. If the scores don't turn the US will win this session 3-1 and go in to tomorrows singles 11-5 up. Disaster.
  • 22:16
Bubba and Simpson getting near to closing out their match, the Lawrie/Molinari combination clearly not working for Europe. Four down thru 13, if they lose the next hole they are gone.
  • 22:24
Eagle putt for Bubba on the 579 yard 14th hole. The end is near for the first European group of Molinari and Rose.
  • 22:30
Rose birdie put lips out on the 14th to hand Bubba and Simpson a 5&4 win as America move to 9-4 ahead overall. The Americans with wives and caddies go into a huddle for a little prayer.
  • 22:38
"This is what golf is all about, a great atmosphere a couple of rowdy ones but the fans have been great," says Bubba after winning.
  • 22:45
Colsaerts lips out for an eagle on the par 5 14th hole. How many of those has he had today. Had it dropped it would have drawn Europe level with Dustin Johnson and Kuchar.
  • 22:49
A Tiger birdie on 13 brings himself and Stricker to within one shot of Garcia and Donald, who were four up at one stage. There are five holes to go and Tiger smiles for the first time in the round.
  • 22:50
  • 22:51
Europe beat the US in 1997 from 9-7 down going into the singles on the final day. But they need to win all three matches currently on the course just to get to 9-7. It seems highly unlikely given how the Americans are playing.
  • 23:00
Lawrie and Colsaerts sitting one down with three holes to play against Dustin Johnson and Kuchar.
  • 23:09
Still waiting for some magic from Rory and Poulter as the holes disappear. Rory has a chance for a 2 on the 236 yard par 3 13th hole. They really need this one to take them to 2 down. Its down hill and fast and finally it has happened. It is the first one that has dropped for them all afternoon and Rory is punching the air. Just one in it now.
  • 23:12
Kuchar makes a million people smile when his drill off the16th fairway hits a tree right in the middle and rebounds further back from where he started .
  • 23:16
All of a sudden it's tight in matches 2, 3 and 4 with just a point separating the teams. Europe is up in one and the US up in two.
  • 23:22
Colsaerts and Lawrie bring it back to all square thru 16 against Dustin Johnson and Kuchar. A little brightness finally creeping into the European scoring in the final stretch.
  • 23:29
Four balls are on the 17th green and a putting competition between Kuchar, Dustin, Lawrie and Colsaerts could determine who goes down the 18th ahead.
  • 23:32
Donald birdies the 15th to go 2 up with 3 to play against Woods and Stricker.
  • 23:36
Dustin Johnson brings the crowd to their feet just as Europe had brought the match to all square at the par 3 17th. Johnson drops a 20 foot putt to go one up against Lawries and Colsaerts. Big putt from Johnson.
  • 23:46
