    Goof afternoon!

Welcome to our coverage of Denmark's clash with Australia in Samara (kick-off 1.0).

The Danes were far from great in their World Cup opener against Peru, riding their luck and relying on a host of missed chances - including a penalty - as they limped to a 1-0 win in Saransk.

Australia, meanwhile, nearly pulled off a shock result over tournament fancies France - and they were left to rue the intervention of VAR as they were beaten 2-1 in Kazan.

With the Socceroos boxing smart and Denmark looking laboured, this tie looks a lot closer than it originally did on paper. But, as ever, if Christian Eriksen turns up it should be enough for Age Hareide's side to book their place in the last-16.

We'll be bringing you all the action, as another hat-trick of fixtures awaits.

    Come on!!!

I'm sure you're probably bored of hearing and reading about Denmark by now - but you're maybe less acquainted with Australia.

The poor Aussies seem to be getting hammered in most sports these days (particularly cricket and rugby) - you can read about the hopes of their football team HERE.

  • 12:53
The battle in midfield should prove intriguing today - it's where Australia are strongest with Huddersfield Town's Aaron Mooy, Aston Villa's Mile Jedinak and Celtic's Tom Rogic. Eriksen won't have it all his own way.
  • 13:00

Denamark in white and Australia in green. Today's ref is Spain's Antonio Mateu.

    BEEEEEEEEEEP!

  • 13:02
1 min: Early chance for Denmark after Kruse fouls Dalsgaard. Eriksen is over the free-kick in the inside-right channel. It's a good ball but just too big for skipper Kjaer. It's flicked behind for a corner. Eriksen plays it short to Sisto - great ball into Delaney but he's falling back and sends his header well wide.
  • 13:05

4 min: Good surge from Leckie down the right and he pumps a long ball into Nabbout. He holds it up well and drops it off for Rogic, whose shot is deflected for a corner.

Mooy swings it towards the corner spot where Leckie ca't keep his header down. That was a chance.

  • 13:06

    GOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

    DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 0 (ERIKSEN 6 MIN)

  • 13:09

Pick that out. Denmark win the ball back in the final third and it's played to Jorgensen on the edge. He takes one touch and then plays in Eriksen with the outside of his boot. Denmark's number 10 runs onto it and strokes a rising left-footed effort into the roof of the net. Stunning finish and a brilliant touch to make the chance.

    8 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 0

  • 13:09
9 min: Australia look to respond with a corner from the right but Denmark clear their lines.
  • 13:09
    10 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 0
  • 13:09
  • 13:12
11 min: Another corner for Australia on the right. They've shown enough in these early stages to give them confidence of getting back into this. Leckie attacks it and wants another corner but is waved away.
  • 13:12
  • 13:16
15 min: It took 15 minutes for the first Mexican Wave. Eriksen whips in a free-kick from the left but Leckie heads it away. Denmark settled and keeping the ball in midfield.
  • 13:19
18 min: Patient build-up from Australia and Jedinak plays a nice ball to Kruse down the left, but his pass back inside is a waste. Kruse then chases another one towards the byline but Kjaer is clever and plays if off the Australian's shins and out for a goal kick.
  • 13:20
19 min: Dalsgaard gives the ball away to Rogic who slides in Kruse whose touch is poor again.
  • 13:20
    20 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 0
  • 13:22
21 min: The ball falls nicely for Sisto who makes a nice connection with a left-footed half-volley but luckily for Australian 'keeper Ryan it's straight at him.
  • 13:23
23 min: Rogic drops deep for the ball and turns and drives at Denmark before dragging his shot. He needs to get more involved in those sort of positions.
  • 13:25
24 min: Great chance for Denmark. Dalsgaard curls in a brilliant cross from the right and Jorgensen gets inbetween two defenders but sends his header back beyond the near post. Should have scored.
  • 13:27
26 min: Good play from left-back Behich after he's found by Jedinak. He bursts towards the box and clips it to the back post where Denmark clear. Another ball is played into the Danish box but there's no green shirt there to meet it. Better from Australia.
  • 13:29
29 min: Australia are seeing plenty of the ball in midfield but struggling to make any impression inside the Danish final third. They need Rogic to link the play better.
  • 13:29
    30 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 0
  • 13:31
30 min: Great jinking run from Leckie on the right and he picks out Kruse on the penalty spot, but he makes a hash of his effort after taking a touch. Mooy's follow up is wild.
  • 13:34
34 min: Plenty of huff and puff from Australia in midfield and they're keeping the ball well - they just look a bit toothless.
  • 13:36
35 min: Kruse carries with a runner outside him but his clipped cross is deflected for another Australian corner. Again, it picks out Leckie but is header is blocked. They want a penalty but there was no real conviction in the appeal.
  • 13:36
36 min: Jedinak has been complaining to the ref, and he's going to check with VAR...
  • 13:36
    PENALTY TO AUSTRALIA!!!
  • 13:37

37 min: Replays show Leckie's header hit the left arm of Poulsen - the ref points straight to the spot and books the Danish forward.

    Jedinak to take the penno...

  • 13:38

    GOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

    DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1 (JEDINAK 38 MIN)

  • 13:39

Jedinak gives Schmeichel the eyes and slots it to the right. Good penalty.

    40 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1

  • 13:40
40 min: Australia's tails are up. Rogic flashes a ball across the box which is just behind Leckie.
  • 13:41
41 min: And now Denmark have a free-kick in a very dangerous spot on the right. Eriksen's delivery evades everyone and deflects off Sainsbury and towards his own goal - Ryan scrambles to make a vital stop.
  • 13:42
  • 13:44
43 min: A deep free-kick for Australia near the right touchline. Mooy's delivery is deep - Sainsbury wants a penalty for a push but VAR won't help the Aussies this time.
  • 13:46
46 min: Good work from Kruse on the left and he switches the play for Rogic who moves it to Risdon on the right - his poor cross is turned away at the near post.
  • 13:47
    HT: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1
  • 13:48
That Eriksen stunner aside, Denmark have created very little. Australia have enjoyed VAR redemption - perhaps fortuitously - but will be happy with their efforts.
  • 14:02
    We're back underway!
  • 14:03
46 min: Nabbbout chases a hopeful ball and gets to the byline, fizzing a dangerous cross across the face of goal - there's nobody up with the play, though.
  • 14:05
47 min: Searching ball from Kjaer to Jorgensen but it's through to the 'keeper. It's a tactic Denmark use a lot, their skipper playing raking passes from deep.
  • 14:07
49 min: Sisto loses it and Lecki breaks from deep - not a lot ahead of him though. He slows it down and waits for support - Rogic snuffed out on the edge.
  • 14:08
    50 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1
  • 14:09
51 min: Big chance for Denmark. Poulsen cuts in from the right and is bundled over on the edge. It falls for Sisto whose effort is brilliantly blocked by Risdon. Denmark want a review - and they also want a corner - but get neither.
  • 14:12
53 min: Denmark break through Eriksen but he is tackled by Mooy and Australia counter - it's getting a bit stretched. Behich is played in down the left and gets to the byline, flashing an excellent ball across goal which Larsen does well to clear. Sustained pressure inside the final third from the Socceroos.
  • 14:12
55 min: Good build-up play and Risdon is released on the right - his cross is rank though and drifts for a goal kick.
  • 14:14
56 min: Poulsen presses and forces a corner kick on the right. The deep ball finds Schone who heads back inside where Mooy wins a free-kick as he clears.
  • 14:16
58 min: Again Australia break down Denmark and Rogic plays in Kruse down the left, his cross is cleared. First change - Martin Braithwate on for Poulsen.
  • 14:17
    60 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1
  • 14:19
62 min: Lovely turn from Rogic in midfield and he sends Leckie - but his first touch is akin to that of a baby elephant and Kjaer sweeps across and clears.
  • 14:22
64 min: Bit of better build-up play between Sisto and Braithwate on the left but smart work from Sainsbury earns Australia a goal kick. As it stands, the Danes look like they'll need some more Eriksen magic to take the lead.
  • 14:26

67 min: Australia have an opening but Rogic's ball into Mooy is poor. It's crossed towards the back post where Schmeichel gets a vital finger on it ahead of Nabbout. Kruse forces it back across goal but Denmark scramble the ball clear. Australia looking the more threatening here.

Change for the Socceroos - Daniel Arzani on for Kruse.

  • 14:26
    70 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1
  • 14:28
70 min: Rogic plays in Leckie on the right but his ball is just beyond Nabbout. Mooy then fizzes an effort just over.
  • 14:30

72 min: Australia break again through Rogic. He slows it down then whips one at goal - luckily for Schmeichel it's straight at him.

Denmark then break and new man Cornelius battles hard to win the ball and lay it off for Sisto. He curls it towards the far corner and it skips just wide with Ryan beaten.

  • 14:32
74 min: Nabbout looks in trouble - he puts his arm out to break his fall on halfway and he's done a Salah - he leaves the pitch in tears, replaced by Tomi Juric.
  • 14:33
75 min: More good work form Leckie on the right but he can't get enough purchase on his left-footed shot across goal.
  • 14:37
79 min: Patient build-up from Australia and Arzani cuts back onto his right and whips one towards Leckie - but it's off his shoulder and out for a goal kick. Australia will be kicking themselves if they can't make thier dominance count here.
  • 14:38
    80 MIN: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1
  • 14:40

81 min: Another chance for Australia. Rogic plays in Arzani on the right. He does excellently to push it past Sisto on the byline and plays it across goal. Schmeichel comes off his line but it evades everyone and runs out for a throw.

Final change, Jackson Irvine - who surely has the most Australian name of all time - on for Rogic.

  • 14:41
83 min: Irvine turns away from Delaney on the right touchline and gets shunted over. Booking for Sisto for talking to the ref.
  • 14:43

85 min: Australia have the ball but they're very deep. This looks to be tailing out into a draw.

Sisto nearly weaves a bit of magic on the left but Sainsbury is equal to it.

  • 14:47

87 min: Sisto dances into the box and slides in Delaney, but his ball across goal is wild.

Australia break down the left, Behich slides in Arzani who shoots straight at Schmeichel from a narrow angle. And then it drops for Leckie in the box - his left-footed effort bounces and loops towards the top left corner where Schmeichel has to scramble but catches.

  • 14:47
89 min: Eriksen, who's been anonymous in the second half, drags a volley well wide.
  • 14:47
    Three minutes added time.
  • 14:49
92 min: Eriksen corner from the right. It's flicked to Braithwate at the back post who lines up the volley - but it's comfortable for Ryan.
  • 14:50
    FT: DENMARK 1 AUSTRALIA 1
  • 14:53
Australia will be disappointed only to emerge with a point there. However, on that showing you'd fancy France to make light work of Denmark - meaning a win over Peru could see them through to the knockouts.
  • 15:37

Right, thanks for joining. Next up, France take on Peru.

    Cya!
