  • Good afternoon!

After Ireland's rout of Italy attentions now turn to Cardiff and a potentially Championship-defining clash.

Wales welcome an England side looking for a 16th consecutive Test victory to the Millennium Stadium knowing a victory would firmly cement their championship credentials.

This is arguably the stiffest task Eddie Jones's all-conquering side have faced, and if they can leave the Welsh capital with a win they will very much fancy their chances of a second-straight Grand Slam.

We'll be bringing you all the action from Cardiff - so get settled and keep everything crossed for a draw.

    Come on!!!

  • There's a late bit of team news - George North has failed to recover from the leg injury he picked up in Wales's opening win over Italy and he's rpelaced by Alex Cuthbert.
  • TEAMS:

Wales:  Leigh Halfpenny; Alex Cuthbert, Jonathan Davies, Scott Williams, Liam Williams; Dan Biggar, Rhys Webb; Rob Evans, Ken Owens, Thomas Francis, Jake Ball, Alun Wyn Jones (capt), Sam Warburton, Justin Tipuric, Ross Moriarty.  Replacements:  Scott Baldwin, Nicky Smith, Samson Lee, Cory Hill, Taulupe Faletau, Gareth Davies, Sam Davies, Jamie Roberts.

England:  Mike Brown; Jack Nowell, Jonathan Joseph, Owen Farrell, Elliot Daly; George Ford, Ben Youngs; Joe Marler, Dylan Hartley (capt), Dan Cole, Joe Launchbury, Courtney Lawes, Maro Itoje, Jack Clifford, Nathan Hughes.  Replacements:  Jamie George, Matt Mullan, Kyle Sinckler, Tom Wood, James Haskell, Danny Care, Ben Te’o, Jonny May.

  • The teams are out in Cardiff. The roof is shut - but it's still crackling.
  • Land of My Fathers hair-raising as always.
  • Dan Biggar gets us underway!
  • 1 min: England set though Hughes and Youngs box-kicks clear. Wales have the ball in hand and skipper Jones makes a big carry into the English half. Wales move it right and Tipuric makes good yards on the outside shoulder.
  • 2 min: Lawes tackles Moriarty but doens't move away and Wales have a penalty on the English 10 right in front of the posts.

Halfpenny nails the kick, Wales have the lead.

  • 4 min: Webb box kicks from Inside his 22 but it's half charged down and Itoje shows great athleticism to poach the loose ball. England have a good attacking platform, Marler taking them up to the 22. Lovely hands and England are into the Welsh 22 but Biggar strips the ball brilliantly in the tackle.
  • 5 min: Very frantic start, Hughes gets buried by Davies and then Halfpenny clears well upfield and England will have a defensive lineout. It's solid and they maul their way up to the 22 before Youngs clears to halfway. Good exit strategy.
  • 6 min: Good clean lineout ball for Wales and Biggar finds Scott Williams who steps inside and makes a good burst before Lawes hauls him down. His offload to Moriarty goes astray.
  • 7 min: England in the Welsh 22 and Nowell makes half a break. The visitors have men over but the ball is too slow. England in the ascendancy but from somewhere Wales manage to turn it over and clear upfield to Brown who comes haring back at them.
  • 9 min: This is breathless. Nowell jinks inside again and he's just caught high by Scott Williams. Halfpenny calls a mark from a chip over the top but play is brought back for the penalty.

Farrell to level things up, and he draws his kick back inside and through the posts.

  • 11 min: Sloppy from Ball and he concedes a penalty allowing England to clear their lines. They get good lineout ball and Farrell breaks into the Welsh half from inside centre. England have a penalty coming after a deliberate knock on, and play is called back after a kick goes long.
  • The penalty is just inside the Welsh half, it's out of Farrell's range but Daly will have a go at goal. He has the legs but pushes it a mile wide.

  • 14 min: Lovely hands from Farrell and Brown is released on the left. Good linespeed from Wales though and they drive England back. Itoje makes a couple of good carries up to the 22 as England build the phases.
  • 15 min: Ominous build-up from England, edging their way deeper into the 22 before it's spun left to Daly who darts back inside and is well tackled. The ball comes back left and again England have men over but Itoje is kept at bay. Heroic defence from Wales - reminescent of their efforts against Ireland the other year.
  • Eventually England unpick the Welsh lock after 28 relentless phases. Daly is nearly released on the left and he offloads to Brown who is held up just short, before Youngs picks and snipes over.

    Farrell, unusually, misses the kick.

  • 20 min: Lovely response from Wales, shifting it left through the hands and releasing Liam Williams who burns int the 22. This time it's Wales building the phases under the English posts and they are awarded a penalty after Launchbury fails to move away on the floor.

    Halfpenny nails a simple penalty.

  • 24 min: Solid Welsh scrum on their own 22 and Wales clear with England a mile offside - nothing given though. Excellent chase from Davies and he scrags Brown but can't force the turnover.
  • 25 min: Line break from Biggar after a ricochet and he kicks ahead and is just beaten in a foot race by Nowell but wraps up the winger. England scrambling on their own line and just about secure it before it's cleared to touch inside the 22.
  • 26 min: Good ball for Wales off the top and they are deep inside the English 22. Great step and dart from hooker Owens. Wales have men over on the right but Scott Williams straightens up. Wales hammering away a yard short. Webb tries to copy his opposite number and dart over but it's not given. Welsh penalty, but after skipper Jones has a word with referee Garces they're going to check upstairs. Replays show it was short.
  • 28 min: Wales turn down the points and go for a five-metre scrum. Brilliant shunt from England and they win the scrum penalty. Big moment.
  • 29 min: England win their lineout and the ball is sent high by Youngs but it's a poor kick and they are penalised for offside. Biggar sticks it into touch.
  • 30 min: Wales spurn another great opportunity as the ball is knocked forward at the lineout. They can't afford those.
  • 32 min: Wales put huge pressure on an English scrum and dogged work on the deck sees them turn over on the visitor's 22. They move it left through Biggar, Davies, Tipuric and then Liam Williams. Wales well into the English 22.
  • 33 min: Moriarty carries up to the five-metre. Wales hammering away, they have to make it count.
  • 34 min: England scrambling but they get away with it again as Webb's short ball to Jones pings off the big man's shoulder. Five-metre scrum.
  • 35 min: Wales get a good shunt on but the scrum will be reset. Second time round Youngs puts in a massively crooked feed and England retain the ball. But Wales put good pressure on and Webb charges down Youngs' clearance and Marler knocks the loose ball forward. Wales must capitalise here.
  • TRY WALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Magic. Moriarty picks and pops to Webb, Scott Williams angles in on a decoy run and Webb pops to Liam Williams who zooms over for a big, big score.

    Halfpenny converts.

    38 MIN: WALES 13 ENGLAND 8

  • 39 min: England have possession as the clock ticks down but it's slow, Jones emptying Launchbury and sending him back over halfway.
  • The teams are back out in Cardiff. Huge 40 minutes.
  • 41 min: Early English possession in Welsh territory but Wales strip it and move it through the hands to Scott Williams who clears upfield. Good kickchase from Wales and when it comes back for Biggar he pins an excellent kick to the English 22. Moriarty gets away with mullering Farrell off the ball.
  • 42 min: Good pressure from Itoje and he gets a foot in at the ruck and Wales are done for accidental offside. Good English scrum and they move it right. Wales earn the turnover but the ball is popped back to Daly off the deck.
  • 44 min: England retaining the ball well but Moriarty puts in a huge hit on Itoje. Wales turn it over through Warburton. Wales have an overlap on the left and Davies shows and breaks, finding Halfpenny on his shoulder. Wales just run out of room and Webb's offload to Biggar goes forward. Brilliant rugby.
  • 47 min: Good cover form Webb in broken field and he's collared by a high tackle from Ford. Biggar finds touch on the 22.
  • 49 min: Wales win it off the top and look to build but they knock it forward. They haven't been nearly tidy enough.
  • 50 MIN: WALES 13 ENGLAND 8
  • 50 min: Wales put the pressure on Brown who skews a long kick straight into touch horribly. The hosts will have a lineout on the 22.
  • 51 min: Wales retaining the ball well and they work it our to the electric Liam Williams who dances into the 22. The ball is slowing down for Wales until Webb produces a moment of magic to find Davies on the right wing but he can't hold on to the pass.
  • Host of changes for Wales, including Faletau replacing Moriarty who had a monster game.
  • 53 min: England nearly open Wales up from deep but Joseph's looped ball to Nowell is too big. Execution has been off from both sides.
  • 54 min: England have the ball near the Welsh 10 but Wales are solid in defence until Warburton concedes a soft penalty on the deck.

Farrell with the chance to slot the first points of the half, it's fairly central and he nails it.

    55 MIN: WALES 13 ENGLAND 11

  • 56 min: Huge Welsh turnover on the England 22. It's moved left to Liam Williams who again gets into the 22. More slick hands nearly releases Liam Williams again and Wales are up to the five. Scott Williams tries to force his way through on the right and Farrell can't quite haul him into touch.
  • 58 min: Relentless from Wales - 17 phases - but this is a huge defensive effort from England.
  • 59 min: Webb tries to snipe and then Warburton picks and goes - Haskell is lying on the ball and is rightly penalised. He's lucky to avoid a yellow. What a passage of play, monumental effort from both sides.

Halfpenny knocks over a simple penalty.

    60 MIN: WALES 16 ENGLAND 11

  • 61 min: Good break from Hughes picking at the base. England work it right and Daly gets them up towards the 22.
  • 62 min: England getting good front foot ball now and make ground deep into the 22. The Welsh defence is still up at lightning pace and Nowell nearly gets in on the right butis forced to check inside.
  • 63 min: And now this is relentless from England - 17 phases. The ball goes loose and Hughes pounces on it - England a fraction short.

WOW! Huge Welsh defence and Biggar intercepts. He charges downfield but doesn't have the legs on Daly so kicks ahead and gives chase, with the covering Daly scrambling back to hook the ball into touch. This is just stunning.

  • 66 min: England under pressure with a scrum on their 22 but Wales wheel it and concede a soft penalty. Farrell clears up to the 10.
  • 67 min: Good maul form England but Wales regroup and shunt them back and Care has to use it. England have the ball on the Welsh 22 - great double hit from Nicky Smith but the visitors retain it.
  • 68 min: Glimpse of space on the right and Itoje finds Nowell but again he's forced back infield. He's tackled high - questionable - and England have a penalty coming. England move it left and lose it forward, but play is brought back.

    Farrell slots three points.

    70 MIN: WALES 16 ENGLAND 14

  • 70 min: New man Te'o claims the kick off deep and then Care finds the English 10-metre with his box kick.
  • 71 min: Wales secure the ball form the lineout and set the maul. Wales in possession inside the English 10 looking to build.
  • 72 min: The ball is slow for Wales and Cuthbert knocks forward on a crash ball. Ford is onto it and clears upfield but the ball goes dead with May in hot pursuit.
  • 74 min: England in possession on halfway, Wales beginning to look a bit leggy. Te'o has the ball on the left and breaks inside and past two tackles before finding Care who is brilliantly tackled. And then May is nearly over in the right corner but a fantastic covering tackle from Liam Williams keeps him out. And then Wales turn it over! Heroic defence.
  • Poor clearing kick form Jonathan Davies to Ford and he sees the space on the left, spinning it to Farrell and then Daly who has the legs to get over in the corner.

Farrell with a kick from tight on the touchline, and he slots it.

    77 MIN: WALES 16 ENGLAND 21

  • 78 min: Wales have possession inside the England 10, but they don't have much time left.
  • 79 min: Wales plugging away but it's slow. Jones makes a big carry and Wales are closer to the 22. But then good work over the top and England win a penalty.
  • Right then, thanks for joining today. The England result wasn't ideal but Ireland are firmly back on track.

There's a week break but see you the weekend after next for the visit of France!
